need help. brakes are an on off switch

ok jammin truggy. MM with a KO propo mars radio with spektrum

i changed pinions ( down a tooth) and all of a sudden if you even think about touching the brake(electric) the truck locks up and flips.
i turned down brake expo.... tried a brake -curve at -80.... no difference.

any ideas?

Finnster 08.22.2008 06:42 PM

mine is doing that too... still have no idea.

On Castlelink select:

forwards- brake- reverse w/lockout

then set your brake strength to about 40-50%.

Transmitter settings to normal.

auto2 08.22.2008 07:30 PM

that is the way it is. I check and when i tried it after i chacked it worked as normal. wierd.

I had trouble w/my brakes a while back....I tried and re tried and then after putting it away for a couple of days, it just worked w/ out touching any of the controls...go figure?

Is the brake curve set to anything other than default? I would re-flash the ESC firmware and set all ESC settings to default and go from there. On the radio side, I'd make sure the trim is at 0, and the EPA is 100% for both forwards and reverse. And if your radio has a "quick brake adjustment" (like Spektrum), make sure that is at 100% as well.

In addition to what BrianG said, also check throttle dead band on the transmitter if equipped. Put it at zero.

FWIW, I've played with the settings on the TX as much as possible, the only thing I haven't done is reflash the firmware. I have a fasst, and it works fine with a SW. Several diff motors, same result.

The only other thing I haven't played w/ is the "ABS" settings. They should be default, but I'll check. The prop brakes seem to work perfect now I've just plugged a MMM in and changed nothing on the TX and loaded the saved CLink settings from the MM.

Mine was doing this, and I realised I forgot to reverse the throttle because I use a futaba radio - so as far as the esc was concerned I was driving around in reverse lol. When I reversed the channel suddenly the brakes worked properly and I gained a sh~tload of power (reverse throttle was set to like 50% lol)

So ran the MMM today. Just swapped out the MM, calibrated the controller, and away it went. Brakes are fine on the MMM. I know what you mean on the futaba, but its on Rev. I thought I had it backwards once and it wouldn't even arm. Its`def not in rev.
