Might have to pick up one of these bodies. Those vents make the body sit alittle higher where the battery is and better cooling for the motor

It's interesting it comes with the 2100 motor

I really want to see how thee motors go so I can spec my buggy the same.

Looking at it I think it is going to be really close to the neu 1515 1y. Maybe I should get one one of those but it will be complete overkill.

Overall very nice design but I am concerned a little about the front dogbone/CVD (whichever it is) coming from the center diff. It really sits at quite an angle to get to the front diff. I wonder if that part would take more of a beating due to the angle and the torque.

Anyone else think that this losi is just a pre-converted buggy and not really a new electric 1/8 Losi? I swear it looks exactly like every other conversion out there. At least its good to know all of the conversions we have all been running and building arent going to be obsoleted by some new amazing chassis layout yet.

The way I see this is Losi bought all of the parts that Mike has been making for years, tweeked a few littel things on the motor mount an battery tray and such to optimize it specifically for the 8ight and are now just planning to pre install the conversion kit. I guesss at least you dont have to buy all the nitro crap and part it out on ebay anymore.

The only exciting thing i see here is the ESC and the motors. Hopefully they are good. Another option designed to for these 1/8 cars is always welcome.

As for the rest of it, it sure isnt what I was hoping for from them. Its just another conversion kit. But like anything I guess it will take time to evolve and it cant happen overnight. At least its a step in the right direction.

Based on the past experience in recent times, would we expect anymore from Losi?

Everyone dogs on Traxxas for re-badging/reworking, but Losi seems to take the cake on that one. Even AE is a big culprit in this arena.

At least the e-revo had a complete chassis redesign to better function as an electric vehicle.

I am with jahutz, the only thing here that interests/impresses me is the brushless system.

I think the big point is that a manufacture made a 1/8 Brushless Buggy ARR...

Was just hoping for more.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed on the esc and motors though.


EDIT: And it certainly is making it easier for Joe Racer to walk into the hobby shop and walk out ready to race with his brushless 8ight. Thats for sure a good thing for the racing class.

the losi front dogbone has always came out on that angle. it will be good for the racing aspect of the hobby but i do agree with the rest

It will be interesting to see how the losi esc/motor combo holds up against the Castle MMM combo..

I wonder if they will share the same problems of going up in smoke.. (I should tread lightly, my used V1 I bought is still working..) I haven't opened my V2 box yet..

I was just taking a look at other pics of nitro and BL converted 8t's and now realizing that. I had never really looked to closely at internal pics of the 8t before as I've been more than happy with the 1/8 buggy I have.

I really don't mind that it looks just like a converted nitro because ultimately wouldn't it make sense to have a design that leads the user to their power source of choice be it nitro or electric?

If the 1/8 xcelorin system delivers as promised it could be a very nice product. Support up to 5S with a 2100kv motor allows for some room for the racer/basher to enjoy the right setup and that could be quite a powerful setup.

I think you are seeing the major manufactures slowly entering the 1/8th scale electric market. By using already designed chassis they can cut down on tooling costs, making test parts for the whole vehicle, etc.... They can explore the market while minimizing their risk. If nobody buys their product they can re-stock the parts as nitro inventory.

I am pleased to see them taking the first step though. As the popularity grows I am willing to bet you will see more manufacturers jump into the fray with new designs. We all know the saying "If you build it, they will come", LOL. Well, we have built them, it should be fun to watch them come to 1/8 electric.

ya but for $850+++ its not any cheaper than converting one......

I think this is aimed at the people who have money, but lack the skills to make anything. After hanging around the hobby shop for a while I would see people come in with simple repairs that they could fix themselves, but pay the techs to do it for them. Most of the people on this forum (save for Teaxsp) are mechanically inclined and can do their own repairs.

To some, the thought of cutting their radio tray (I have to use a saw on my "hobby" grade rc?) and making a small part here or there is too much. I enjoy the build process the most, but I have made stuff from scratch my whole life, and have great manual dexterity (I am also a snazzy dresser!). I feel bad for the people who lack the skills to really enjoy the r/c hobby... but I guess that everyone cannot be a great as I am...
