Rip Mmm

Yep, another gone.. (its a v2, only had it for a day-ran it for 10 mins)

was running on my driveway, thought it hit the cutoff, check the battery it was fine-then lowered the cutoff a bit- 15.5v, then plugged the the wire back into the rx.. turned it back on- it armed , blipped the trigger.. stopped and shut off. Never smoked fan didnt come on but castle link still works!!! i dont get it:neutral:

ugh

red led on ESC flashes once when i try and arm the system, i can also hear the servo centering itself as i pug it in... but then nothing

Sounds like the BEC to me...

brushlessboy16 08.30.2008 12:16 PM

would the mods that u guys told me prevent that failure?

BrianG 08.30.2008 12:24 PM

It should, but there's no guarantee. That's the risk you take when doing something like that. I've had good luck, and so has another member who has tried it. You may not be as lucky and then you'd be out the cost of a new MMM.

brushlessboy16 08.30.2008 12:28 PM

well i didnt open it, i started to but thought better of it.. its back in the box.. waiting for patrick to respond to my PM

I've ran about four packs through mine, the first three were smooth as glass. On the fourth one I set it on the track, went down the straight and it cut out. Turned it off, unplugged it turned it back on and it worked again. Then about eight minutes later it did it again. Turned it off unplugged, turned it back on and it ran smooth the rest of the pack. The only thing was the servo felt really soft the whole time, Hitec 5955.

To me that means the BEC has got to be the problem with these, other than that it's an awesome ESC.

brushlessboy16 08.30.2008 12:34 PM

agreed

They need to make a setup like the MMM that brian modded and have some leads to plug a ccbec in...

brushlessboy16 08.30.2008 12:54 PM

since the bec is bad, can i try a rx pack?

Wont work. They're all failing the same way.

brushlessboy16 08.30.2008 01:54 PM

is it a worthwile endeavor to remove internal BEC?

Unsure how this would work. Using any external power source will power your servos/rx/fans/etc, but if the BEC is going bad just by itself, that will still leave the brain circuits without power and you are still left with a dead ESC.

brushlessboy16 08.30.2008 03:56 PM

doesnt matter now, it smoked.... :(

PATRICK, WHERE ARE YOU?

SUUUEEEEEEYYY
