A good not to powerfull bl setup

haha i bet you guys never thought you'd see the day...anyway

I have an old MRC Thunderking and i don't really wanna put money or effort into trying to find the parts to beef up the transmission so with that in mind..and the knowledge that a novak hv-maxx sadly makes the tranny slip

what's a good cheap setup to run on it...i am only looking to make the truck do 25-30mph i am just looking for it to keep enough speed to not be boring..and i'll probably run the truck on 8 cells or a 2s lipo if i get some more..right now doing the nitro thing

anyay i'll probably run a mamba max esc so that i can alter the start power to soft..to keep the transmission for slipping...what's a good kv truck will be geared 17/67 or something like that

Thunderbruiser 09.04.2008 04:01 PM

well i might be getting the steel gear set..so i'll go for 35 mph now

I would guess a lower kv motor will be easier on the tranny. Maybe a velineon 3500 or mamba 4600 motor on 2S or 8 cells geared a bit high would be a good choice. I have the mamba 7700 and it shreds trannies on my setups that cant handle brushless power. For 35mph and no harsh starting you may just want to go with a titan 12t or any brushed motor. Any brushless motor is going to have a lot of starting torque even with the soft start setting on the speed controls.

MM and Feigao 540 8S would do the job pretty well

I Like the Velineon over the cc 4600. After a long bash the it stays under 170F (also running in a 100F+ weather)I have it geared 16/66. For a $70 motor it's much more powerful motor than a 8l or a CC 4600. If you run 12 Cell nimh on the Velineon motor you will be very pleased with the speed, and get 25 min or more runtimes.

The velineon 3500 is made and mass produced for Traxxas by Feigao... It is equivalent to the Feigao 540 7l.

I think Linc's ripped one apart the rotor is actually the length of a feigao S can - so it is more like a 10S

really?

any proof of that?, beacuse i own both and they are verry diffrent

well at any rate i like the velineon 3500 motor too, i have both and in my slash its no contest the vxl is much more powerful than the 4600

Arct1k 09.05.2008 08:48 AM

Yes really... I'm not going to go back over this again as there are threads going back on this a while:

A) I spoke to feigao
B) The motors have been dissaembed and compared
C) Traxxas confirmed

I see no shame or issue with it though - Feigao motors are great for what they are - An S can is perfect for a 2wd stadium truck

Funny thing is Takedown was the biggest skeptic...

yea triggeraa you've got those aluminum gears which i may very well get haha how's it hold up to dual venilons...and guys this truck is huge like trig's actually same car just way less modded...I am not looking to set speed records but i do want good run time and decent speed also wanna be able to run like i said 8 cell packs up to 3s possibly

i think i'd want at least an l can motor so it wouldn't be struggled too much and because from what i see you don't have many gearing options on this truck
