For what vehicle/ESC/Motor? both of these are only good for about 80amps...

Takedown 09.13.2008 12:47 AM

If were you I would go with the TRC pack. They do exceptionally well over zippy's.

JeffEmbracedDC 09.13.2008 01:39 AM

Totally depends on what kind of car you're using, gearing and the motor you use.

Fill in those blanks and we can definitely help out.

used my 4800 zippy today and WOW. never had this power on nimh. cant imagine what an even more powerful pack could do! im considering a smaller pack too... any suggestions? (lighter - see sig)

spaz163 09.13.2008 10:18 AM

I know exactly what you are saying TC3, I ran my Ofna MBX conversion off 14 cells NiMh for quite some time and now that I have my 4s Zippy-R 4800 it is pretty much a different animal.

But as far as which batts are better. I went through this too before I bought the zippy the only thing that convinced me to go with the zippy is the numbers. Well and the Eagle tree data that Finnster supplied earlier.

And check this out... they have them in stock and you know you can't beat that price. http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...0C_Lipoly_Pack You can pick me up one for the suggestion.

well mate its in a converted lst2 with a emaxx gearbox
using
1515 1.5d 2700 kv might change when i can afford it
mamba monster
spur 54 t mgt steel mod1
pinions hardend 16/17/18/19/20
proline 40 series wheels
proline mulcher tyres

was going to go 6s but been told to stick to 4s with this motor

I would take the Zippy, i've got Zippy packs in all my cars and trucks and they are all working great and take much more than the spec says.

2700kv is quite hot for that large truck, probably will pull some serious current!! You will need some lipos that can keep up!

phatmonk 09.13.2008 03:54 PM

I would order one of these but dont they have a odd balancing wire harness. And if so where can I get a balance wire harnees that works. Now all I have are the Maxamps lipo batteries.

spaz163 09.13.2008 03:58 PM

The balancer plug on the Zippys are what they refer to as JST-XH plugs... which are exactly the same as align plugs. I just recieved an align extension for my zippy lipos and it fits perfect.

tc3_racer_001 09.13.2008 06:33 PM

they are the most common plugs - all chinese packs use them. they are not hyperion or TP or any of the name branded ones (apart from align)

Definitely a hot motor for that truck. Honestly, the only way you'll get it to work reliably with that motor is on 4s and you'll have to double up your packs in parallel which will double your maximum discharge rate.

Ideally you'd replace that motor with something closer to 1500kv run on 6s. But if you were stuck with that motor I suggest you run two 4s 5000mah 20-30c Zippy packs in Parallel ending up with a 4s2p configurating and 10,000mah. That would be about 250a you could pull from those batteries and honestly at that point you might have issues with your ESC. That's a lot of amps!

If you only used one battery it would be about 125a max and honestly you'd end up with bad performance and puffed lipo cells.

Your best bet by far is to get a 1515 or 1521 around 1500kv and go with 6s lipo.

I personally run Zippy packs and have had no issues.

Super heavy, yeah. Those batteries are over 1.5lb each.
