7700kv Mamba motor too much for a crt .5?
Id like to convert my crt .5 for winter racing and am going to try to use what i got already to do it. Is a 7700kv mamba motor on 2s too hot?
|
It seems the general concensus for the CC motors is to use the 4600 in the CRT.5. But if your truck is extended and is running 2.2 truck tires you will probably want to consider a larger motor.

7700 is not the best choice
A MM 7700 is best in lightweight on road cars. Heavy off-roaders will kill it, your drive train and your batteries.

I just finished a Crt. 5 conversion and I went with a Feigao 9 L work great.

You can check out the build here.

Thanks for the build link Chip. Looks good! Love the body.
It seems like most are running 3s on their Crts. Anyone run one on 2s with a higher KV motor? The Medusa 4800kv 50mm maybe? |
my friend here have try a 7700 kv in is crt.5.(2 cell lipo)...:lol:the esc reach cut-off temp after 7 minutes...dont try this at home:yes:
|
The 7700KV will be running at 56980rpm. That is alot (even though Castle say it can run up to 60000rpm). Have you looked into the Traxxas VXL motor of the Feigao motors. Be a much better and safer choice

Good to hear its the way to go, thanks guys. What gearing are you running? The trick is finding one in stock now. :)
|
with stock size tires I'm runing a 15t pinion and with larger 4.3" slash tires I run a 13t
|
I have a 50 Medusa 3300kv on the way. I plan to run on 2s.
|
Even with the 4600 on 2s geared low, temps get too high for me (over 150*). Despite its small size, the CRT.5 is fairly heavy. And it's 4wd (greater load). A 3s setup on a ~3500 kv motor would be best IMO. Temps will be much better all the way around.

So far so good! The Medusa motor seems to be a good high quality motor. There seems to be more metal to it compared to the mamba. :) using the stock spur and a 14t pinion, the motor barely gets warm. The esc was getting a little warmer than i woulda liked, but i think a small fan will keep that in check. This thing is a riot!
