WTB: Simple NiMH Charger
My brother was visiting last weekend, and I think I got him hooked into R/C. Previously, his experience was just with Tyco-type stuff and he couldn't believe the acceleration and speed these things have.
Well, it was his b-day and all, and I had my Tamiya TB EVO sitting around, so I slapped a Traxxas XL-5, 1 Tital 12T motor, an Ofna Am tx/rx, and a set of GP3300's in it and gave it to him. Now he needs a charger. He said he had a 4 hour charger (a wall wart with a Tamiya plug), but I told him that was crap and forbid him to use it. So, looking for an inexpensive NiMH charger that will do 6-7 cells at around 3-4A. Preferably AC or DC built-in so he doesn't have to mess with an external PS. I was looking at an MRC 959 or 960, but I have one for my son and the buttons are tempermental - they require me to push rather hard for them to work. Does anyone have a comparable charger they'd be willing to let go? PM if you do! |
I've got a used one of these:

I think Ive got an old superbrain 977 I could let go. Havent used it in a long time now. It works fine though and will even do basic lipo if ever needed and can charge 2 packs at once. I'd have to dig it out. Not even sure where it is ATM, but I know I have it and it works fine.

Thanks guys! My brother is not particularly electronically inclined, so I'd like to have something that I can set up at my house and then all he has to do is hook up his 6 cell pack and press "go".

My search has ended! Someone here was VERY generous and donated an MRC 960! Talk about an awesome group here! I think it will be perfect because that charger is AC or DC, will charge up to 8 cells, and is a 1 button procedure until he gets experienced enough to play with the settings if he chooses to.
Thanks again for all the responses! |
