My buddy and I just started practicing at the track recently, so we thought we'd take a video now to compare to a video a year from now after we learn how to drive.

I'm driving the black truck. Feel free to give me driving tips!

Traxxas E-Revo - MM/CCBEC/9XL/4s True-RC 8000mAh lipos

Blue Truck:
Traxxas E-Revo (3.3 conversion) - MMM/Medusa 60-1600kV/5s 6000mAh lipos

Hahaha nice vid! I don't think your driving was all that bad; a few hiccups, that's it. You should give your buddy some pointers, though. :whistle:

Crap, I just realized that I spelled "Dueling" wrong. How embarrassing!

My buddy just got his E-Revo. He's coming from the crawler world, so he's really not used to big brushless MT's yet. :-) I'm sure he'll be kicking my butt in no time.

Driving Tip #1: Put the alcohol down. :smile:

Bruce, I'm using 40 series BowTies. The blue truck is using Mulchers.

Love my mountains, btw! Where I live, I can throw a rock and literally hit the side of the mountain. It's very cool to live here I think.

How is that Medusa running for him? I'm considering one for my next motor, but I haven't heard much about them. Mike's selection runs from the cheap Fiego and then Neu's, with only the Medusa in between.

The Medusa runs great! It is a very cool running motor and has gobs of power. Now we just need to get him some better packs. He's currently using my old MA 6k packs, and they just can't provide the oomph he needs.

Next time, I'll have him throw my 4s 8k TRC packs in and see if he can clear those jumps a bit easier. :lol:

Actually, I bought a 6s 4k Zippy pack from someone on RCM recently. I reconfigured it to 2 x 3s 4k and sold them to him. He just needs to widen the battery trays to accommodate the 50mm width. Those should do the trick I think.

Nice driving. I Raced at that track (blacksheep?) a year or two ago at the utah gas champs. What happened to all the nice red clay? Your revo looks to have plenty of pop to say the least. Do you think it would be worth waiting for the 70mm medusa or is the 60mm enough for your buddy? How is his top speed ect.

It's hard to say whether the 70mm would be worth the wait. I know that it doesn't have as much punch as my 9XL on 4s, but I don't know if it's the short can or the crappy batteries. His top speed is great, but the low end torque seems a bit lacking. I suspect the batteries.

The driving wasn't too bad (either one)

I rely on the three P's

Practice; The more you do, the better you get (works for everything).

Patience; Don't push skill, it will come in it's own time.

Persistence; Don't quit just because of a bad outing or race, everyone on the track was where you are now.

That's the three P's, now for my last piece of advice.Do not be afraid to ask the fast guys how to drive certian sections. Most are willing to give a few secrets away, especially if they might could get some wheeltime with your car to show you how.

last thing, Have Fun. Its only a hobby and they are toy's, enjoy it

I'm not ultra competitive, so your tips should be easy for me to follow. I just started racing because it's fun to do this hobby with other people that enjoy it. I also like to see myself improve. My first night at the track, I just started slow and gradually got faster with each lap. My goal is to not crash recklessly and break stuff unnecessarily.

When I first started going, I couldn't finish a lap without wrecking, but now I can finish them and I'm getting a bit faster in some sections. I still need to get my car dialed in a bit, especially with the steering. I'm sure that practice will help more than any little car adjustment.

geared for 43ish mph my medusa 60mm 2000kv on 5s gets hot

One worthwhile investment would be to bin the 40 series - They are fun for bashing but not much use at the track - Same for the mulchers. A set of LPRs will set you back about $65 though
