RC8 Buggy Build

I'm about to start a RC8 buggy build and need some ideas for batteries. I know i want to use Flightpowers and the must fit in a RCPD mudguard/battery tray (i already ordered it). I want to go hv and have has many mah as possible without lifting the body any. Can ya'll please post some flightpowers that will work? But if 4s is all that will fit properly, post that also.

what are the dimensions of the tray?

Fast5sRevo88 09.25.2008 08:13 PM

The dimensions are 48.5mm wide x 170mm long. Micke_b on the forum has a RC8 on 6s Maxamps 4000mah with this tray, the height of his packs r 38mm.

I saw your buggy build that u used mike's tray, are u still use it. Thanks for the info, but i will be using the RCPD one which is about the same dimension as mikes, but i don't know if it is as easy to shave down as mike's.

If you want HV, try the Impulse lipos. I have a 3s 3200mah pack and it's lower profile than a 6c pack.

I'm assuming you want 8s? Higher?

To me, for hight restrictions the Impulse packs have the skinniest cells available.

Well 8s would be fine if i had somewhere to put it. This is the tray i will be using and have already ordered....

That is micke_b's RC8

i put mikes tray in my truggy and now im using the rcpd one it sits way out and it needs a bit of shaving to fit the zippy 5000 its a nice tray though i wish the battery was moved over about 5mm

Well, i got my buggy, now i just have to wait on everything else.
  • This is what i plan on using;
  • Mike's Motor Mount
  • Flightpower 5s 4350mah Lipo
  • RCPD Ultimate Battery Tray
  • Motor ???
  • Mamba Monster

brushlessboy16 10.03.2008 06:37 PM

1515-1y :D

BL_RV0 10.03.2008 09:54 PM

Not for 5s. I think a 1512 in the ~1800kv range or a Medusa 36-60-1600 would be good.

big greg 10.03.2008 10:29 PM

the 2.5d would be sweet on 5s

cheesecake 10.03.2008 11:07 PM

1512 3d on 5s is a great setup
