Building the BATTLE TRUCK..

Ok I'm trying somthing new, I'm building a battle truck “the ultimate battle truck” to be exact (tee hee) :intello: and I was wondering if you guys could help me (??)..

Here is what I’ve got!.

(live Rocket pods!) (Got to love this hobby!) :yipi:
#1. Can you recommend or point me in the direction I need to go to find a firing mechanism for my rocket pods?
#2. Do you know how I can set them up to fire after each other 1bang Right side …2bang left side and so on with only a sec or two between side / rounds..
#3. Can you recommend any packing I can use to hold them while drive / bashing ? I was thinking cotton or wax ???

(Also!!)
Does anyone know where I can get a full cage roll bar for either a GorillaMax or a X-Ray truggy ??. (I need to make gull wing doors) that raise up exposing the rockets pods then firing.. I need a strong frame to work from and bolt things to..

Here is what I’ve got so for..

Thanks for your time team..

P.S.
I’ll post pics of its 6mm (Simi auto) paint gun soon as well…

“Lincpimp”. (I found my setup last night), I should have by the end of the week…..

This is funny! Glad you found the setup last night. I look forward to seeing the progress.

As for roll cages, there is a company that makes a bunch of tubular cages. I think they are called rc solutions, but I am not sure... I have a tmaxx cage floating around somewhere...

lol this project is going to be hilarious!

I can't wait to see the finished product.

One of the easiest ways I can think of to fire sequentially is this.

Use a Rx output to drive a servo that set up to trigger a momentary switch. The momentary switch, then gives power to a low RPM motor direct wired to a battery pack. Couple the output shaft of the motor to a rotary switch such as this:
http://www.newark.com/40M9999/switch...0dp45-01-1-ajn

Tie the positive output of your battery (6-12V, 2S lipo would be great) to the single pole on the switch. Then, each output from the switch goes to a single leg of each one of these:
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXF569&P=D

Then take the other leg of each of the of the ignitors and tie it to the negative on the battery.

Now, once connected, you control the servo actuated switch with your Tx, triggering the motor to spin which, in turn, rotates the rotary switch sending voltage to each of the ignitors in whatever order you have them wired. The speed at which they fire is simply controlled by the RPM of the motor you're using to turn the rotary switch.

Good luck with it. We'll definitely need to see vids!

Agreed. This should be a fun one to read about. :intello:

MetalMan 10.01.2008 01:27 PM

Wow, Shaun. I didn't realize that information I provided last night was gonna go towards something so destructive :surprised:.

TexasSP 10.01.2008 01:31 PM

I shall watch this thread closely...........

Looks like a fun project!

TDC57 10.01.2008 01:40 PM

Ok I think I found the Frame ?? :eyes:. can some please verify / do you know if this will work on a GM or X-Ray Truggy ?? I just need the center section so I'm pretty sure I or MetalMan can make it work.

P.S.
Thanks for the pull Lincpimp..

Metalman..
Don’t kid yourself Sir, the next time you take the lead from me will be your trucks last :lol::lol:

Skellyo..

Thank you Sir – Huge HELP… much appreciated.. :yipi:

Rusty, Rschoi, TexasSP & Andrew..:intello:

P.S.
I’ll also be needing a 6 channel radio any thoughts anyone ??

suicideneil 10.01.2008 01:59 PM

Hitec laser 6- so many knobs and dials, perfect for controlling the doors and firing mech.

lincpimp 10.01.2008 01:59 PM

I like the rotary switch idea, why not add an arm to that switch, and just use a servo to move the arm, with a linkage? You would need a radio with a selecatable step 3rd channel, like the m11. I may have to give that idea a try...

TruckBasher 10.01.2008 02:21 PM

Whoah another project Shaun? Too bad those rocket engine are not allowed to be shipped outside US...and there are not many distributor of those material here....I wanted to put it on a heli and fire some on my neighbor

I know there are RC relay switch that can be triggered using one of the servo channels but not sure how to go about the sequence firing...

Arct1k 10.01.2008 02:24 PM

I think you will need a pan and tilt setup:

suicideneil 10.01.2008 02:37 PM

I've looked at those pan & tilt things before- predator shoulder cannon anyone?...

Arct1k 10.01.2008 02:50 PM

Any of course it must have remote video!
