My 1st Eagle Tree Run :)
Alright, anybody that has one of these probably already knows . . . they're pretty cool. I'm really looking forward to seeing how different temperatures, track condition, setups, etc. will change the outcome of the system.
So I wanted to post my first graph to see if all of you are as surprised as I was. First let me say what the conditions were - it was about 70 degrees outside, and the track wasn't a high grip surface. It had some moisture on it from being watered down earlier, but wasn't in "race" condition. I did try to go all out when I was going though - stopped a few times here and there if my friend and I wrecked or something. Sorry, just realized I don't list the KV of the motor - it's 1100kv. Oh, and the graph shows amp draw on the right side and the minutes are along the bottom/horizontal part. Total time recorded was about 33 minutes if you can't read it too clearly.

That is slower than ideal. That is running 24,420RPMs I'm running a 1515 2.5d (1700kv) on 4s which works out to 25,160RPMs...also slower than ideal but it works! Generally speaking 32-35000RPM is the target range, about the same as a nitro motor.

Yep. I usually shoot for 28-32k in my projects. Unless it's an outrunner or a speed project.

Don't sell low kv motor's short, I got a lehner basic xl 1200 in an E-gt with 5s geared 20/66. Its good for about 35 and makes everything nervous on the track, it runs stone cold with a 2500mah pack for over 40 minutes

After more then 450 logged runs on my buggy and truggy i got lazy about my eagletree logger and i'm now running my cars without it, since i know that my setup has prooven to be bulletproof.
I do also run a Neu 1515/2Y (1100kv, smooth can) in my truggy (10.1lbs) but i feed it with 9s1p A123 (between 27-28V average). Max RPM under load between 30000-32000rpm which translates to a top speed of around 39mph with a 1:13,8 overall gearing. Here is an eagletree graph of a typical run on a rather slippery track for comparision: http://bt2007.braintrust.at/ds/rc/pr...n151_graph.gif I'm eager to see a graph of your setup without breaks inbetween and also showing Wattage (especially average Wattage). During my rather crazyer days i drove shorter gearings with 10s1p A123 and needed 600 Watt average. I never was able to use all this power on a track which is why i experimented with gearing and cell count and came to the conclusion that 9s1p and a 1:13,8 gearing gives me just about the right performance to be competitive -> average Wattage is now down to 350 Watt. Have fun with your eagletree logger. One of the most interesting things to do, is combining your eagletree Data to a video of you car running. |
