What power supply for 140 or less?
I have 140 i am willing to spend on a power supply for my 610NET Hyperion charger. This is the 250w one so i will need a pretty high amp PS.
i am looking at these 2 so far. this one is only 18 amps and will not max the charger to its full so leaning away on this one - http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXKLP2&P=ML this cost more but will run the charger at full including efficiency losses - http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXUTL8&P=ML You notice the one that fits the charger better is 139.99 and that is basically why my limit is 140. Let me know what you guys have in mind and by all means if mike carries one i will gladly get it form him. But upon searching searching power supply i found nothing but chargers in mikes shop. Thanks guys. |

This guy has some great prices. I have been running the 30A version for a 6-8 weeks now and really like it. Very nice for the money and you could get 2 of them for the price of the ones you linked to. |
thanks jhautz i knew there had to be a better option. i found many other PSU's but was worried about reliability. BTW that PSU you linked looks like a modded Computer PSU? None the less if it is reliable it has the specs to max out my charger and will most likely get one. Thanks a ton.

CPU ps are reliable and efficient. I bought mine for $20 and it's capable of 18amps.

Yea, your right, its just a computer PS with all of the extra wires and such removed. I dont know if its moded, or he just had the factory build him some like that. But whatever, it works and it doens't look bad either.
I havent pushed it really beyond 20 amps so far, but that is all I could really ever use with my packs anyway unless I start charging at higher than a 1C rate. It did the job and didnt complain at all, it didnt even hardly get warm. There is plenty of fan on it thats for sure. |
Astron makes some pretty nice units. The 25A switching one I use on my bench had a trim pot that allowed me to dial in 14.8v instead of the default 13.8v, which reduces current.
