60 mph Traxxas Bandit on 8 GP cells
http://www.geocities.com/marigak/60mphrun1.jpg
Check out the swiss cheese chassis:L: Anything for more speed! Bandit geared 30/72, 8 GP cells, Lehner 5300, warrior 9918(just to be safe. Thanks Mike! ). I even made a very short video of the run. I always had problems because I did'nt know how to compress the video. Then someone on this site just yesterday mention WinXP could do this. Movie maker is awsome lol. I am still learning but at least I can post a video now. The video would be longer , it cuts off because I took out my camera right there with my car, it slammed right into the tripod. I wish it would have stay filming, woulda looked awsome but you would also here curse words lol. I was using one of those Mavica cameras and they use a mini cd to capture the shots and I lost the rest of that video. At least my camera still works but it was cracked. Here's the short 60.2mph video Here's a couple links of my setup. I am a hacker I know:rolleyes: None of my cars and trucks are for show just bashing and speed. I have 2 sons and a wife and we drive together alot. I keep 4 vehicles up and running at all times:) The warrior is mounted on a piece of thin wood I had laying around. Nice funky pink shrink wrap huh? All my LHS had at that time. Setup pic one Setup pic 2 Was alot of fun! |
60 mph..
That is fast - I only wish i could have that much fun just bashing - I think the whole racing thing is a sort of sickness - ( which i have of course ). I have a 3 year old and i can only hope that she learns to enjoy the hobby when she gets older. I think its great that you and your family can participate in this hobby together. Keep up them high speed runs and you know what they say - a family that bashes together stays together.... Keep them vids coming....

My sons are 8 and 5 they love driving but I think they like breaking stuff more lol. I'll be doing more videos for sure and when I get some good ones I'll post them in the vault . |
I bet Traxxas never thought the bandit would go that fast! Be sure to have some spare parts around, because if you crash at that speed, that little buggy will just about disintegrate! Cool video, too. I wish we saw more, but I am glad we were spared the cursing! I am looking forward to the next video!

Only when it tumbled into a solid object did it break. That happen a few times too, rock, telephone pole lol. I don't mind fixing them though, sometimes I think I like it more than driving :) I keep tons of spare parts around. Stub axles are what usually break because of the power. Luckily I have never damaged a motor or ESC cause that would be costly. |
Yeah, the nice thing about the little, light cars is that they bounce quite well! They are also very easy to fix. Thiat is why my electric stampede is still one of my favorite bash vehicles. It is tough, fast and easy to fix! The buggy parts are cheap, but it gets expensive if you wreck a controller - keep it well protected and continue your quest for insane speed!

Update:
I know plenty of people have gone over 60 but I have been still trying to see how fast I could get on 9.6 volts(8 GP cells) . My first over 60 run that I posted here was done with some unmatched GPs I have. I bought some GPs from Mike here the matched Integy ones. They were not quite getting to 60 mph yet because they needed a few cycles in their new pack I think. Well now they are cycled baby lol. They are blowing away my unmatched pack now. I got 62.5 mph on 8 cells. This is my fastest ever(my last fastest was 61.9 on a lehner 4200 and 11 cells). I have not been able to break 61 with the unmatched pack I have broke 62 a couple times with the new batteries and I think they will break 63. I didn't video this one but I have a bunch of my speed runs video and will mix and match a few together in one video some day heh. I think it may be time for a 3s lipo on this setup and go for 70:) |
I just got in some matched 3600 cells with even higher voltage and lower IR than the best GPs I have. I will test them this weekend, but even the mid quality 3600s I tested over the last couple weeks were very impressive. The 3s Lipo will push you to a new level for sure! I have had very good luck with the Integy packs, which is why I choose to carry them. Cheaper packs can be had, but the performance speaks for itself. I am glad you were able to reach a new personal speed record (impressive for a bandit buggy!) and I look forward to you reaching 70+ mph!
