Muggy elecs
Hey I should have a muggy in my hands in a few days and I need some help on what elecs too run. I want too know from your experiences what would work best. I am not racing this.
First, a motor. I was thinking either a 1515 or a 1521 neu. Not sure if the 1521 is needed, doubt it but heard the the muggy is a pig so its an option. I plan on using lpr tires on losi lightened wheels because I hear the stock ones are quite hefty. Not sure where else too shed much weight as its got plastic shock bodies, aluminum chassis and such, maybe carbon fiber instead of aluminum? I was thinking 1515 1y on 6s. Now I am hoping this will produce the wheelies on demand, I mean I would rather have it and be able too dial it out than have it be under powered. Differential Ratio: 4.09 Transmission Ratio: 1 Other Ratio: 1 Spur Tooth Count: 48 Pinion Tooth Count: 11 Total Voltage: 22.2 Motor KV: 2200 Tire Diameter (inches): 5.6 Tire Ballooning (inches): 0 Motor Current Draw: 0 Motor coil Ω: 0.006 Spur/Pinion Ratio: 4.36 : 1 Total Ratio: 17.84727 : 1 Tire Circumference (inches): 17.59 inches (446.86 mm) Total Motor Speed: 48840 RPM Vehicle Speed: 45.59 mph (73.23 km/h) Estimated Adjusted Speed: 43 mph (69 km/h) - 6% loss Effective KV Value: 2200 KT constant: 0.61 oz-in/A Motor Torque: Amperage not specified... Final Torque: Amperage not specified... Final Power: Amperage not specified... That looks good right? Next batteries. Looking too get zippies so it can be running asap, then upgrade batts and charger later. I have a duratrax Ice so 4s is max. I plan on getting two 3s packs and run them in series. now zippy r's at 25c should be fine right? http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...00mAh_25C_3S1P for an esc, http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...MM160183sHCS01 that or the MMM. Has the issue with the MMM been resolved? I saw somewhere recent that it may have been the leads touching and shorting but was that it? It would be perfect but I want it too work. Thanks guys, I believe that is it. once the muggy gets here it will be more interesting! |
my MUGGY
1521 1900 12/46 16018 a123 7s proline badland little pig! but fast pig hahaha- |
I love my muggy, and you'll love yours too! I run mine as follows:
Tekno Neu 1515 1Y 6S 4800 20-30C MMM 12T pinion motor brakes hpi phaltlines for street crimefighters for dirt If I were you, I'd just wait until CC releases the motor/ESC combos. As of yesterday, castle said they discovered and fixed the problems with the MMMv2, and are about to start production. The 1515 1Y does pull wheelies at ANY speed on demand, even with an 18T pinion(!). And I have a very heavy custom brace on my muggy, and aluminum shocks too! Monster Mike thinks the 1521 is better for the Muggy; my setup seems to work fine though. It doesn't run icey cold, but not too hot either. Still, if I did it over again, I'd drop down at least one motor kv in the 1515 series (2050?). As for your batteries, I hear nothing but goodness about Zippy's!! regarding ESC's; I'm one of the lucky few who is awaiting the arrival of my 6th(!!!!!!!!) MMM!! I came OH SO CLOSE to getting an MGM, but it didn't make sense for me. My take: I DUNNO! =) |
hpi phaltlines too heavy! 290g
i wait mmm V3. I burnt Barracuda-125 in one minute. Six cell 17T. a123 has little capacity, but is strong. Charge is very fast. However, is heavy; is big. Because MUGGY is a fatty, it is all right. |
My Muggy:
MMM used to be a 9xl but is now a 1515 1/y/f 4s 5000 neuenergy lipos geared 11/50 Big Joe tires on axial 40 series bead-locks Hauls a** wheelies on demand and temps are cool :) |
I should also be receiving my Muggy today and am gonna convert it straight away to brushless. Could you please post some pics of your setups?

There was an article about Adam Drake's lst2 and him using the plastic shock bodies instead of aluminum and the difference was a pound or more. Also someone on here said truggy wheels were about a pound less than the stockers. The specs say about 14 pounds, I am shooting for 10-11 brushless. Well I am hoping too get this started. I have some nitro parts too sell and a crawler. |

Well I was expecting next day shipping, but it wont be here until the 17 which I believe is Friday. Maybe he meant he will ship the next day....... any ways I am not going to gripe.

Yes Muggy shocks are plastic. Mine weighs in right about 12lbs with 40 series bowties.
