I looked over my truck again and notice that my motor is trashed also. "When it rains it pours." Any luck there is a warr. on the motor?

THAT is the reason for your esc to burn my friend!!!

that is the reason.. it made a near dead short at the wires..

man, that sucks! i fried my 9920 right after i got it, had it warranted for free, got it back and then after 3 runs my lehner xl3100 dies. i know how you feel.

Well at least I found the problem (I mean Serum did), the bad thing is more $$$. I have to buy a whole new BL setup. My BEC wires got all burnt up also.
So how do I stop this from happening again? With 2 18.5 4200mah lipo's on there I cant have another fire.

Serum 11.20.2005 11:56 AM

get a wanderer, they claim to have better bearings..

the 9920 should work fine, and while your at it, take a 8XL..

RC-Monster Mike 11.20.2005 12:01 PM

the problem finally presents itself, huh! It seems as though the sand has caught up with you, Ryan. It is hell on bearings, and it just happened to destroy the one bearing that was holding your BL system together!
All 7xls from RC-Monster will be the Wanderer version(out of Feigaos, so will replace with wanderers). 8xl is also a good recommendation for your setup, Ryan. Here is another tip - put a drop of opil opn the bearing, then place a piece of scotch tape over it to keep the dirt out. This will keep the bearing in top shape for a long time, even in harsh conditions.

ryanvm777 11.20.2005 12:09 PM

Why 8XL instead of 7XL?

Serum 11.20.2005 12:11 PM

less hot, more runtime and with the lighter lipo, you will get a huge amount of runtime!

Exactly! The 8xl will be in a more efficient rpm range on this cell count and will run cooler, longer. Especially with Lipos!

Oh, this sucks. Never saw a bearing like that on a motor. Reminds me of skateboard wheels, and I had a knuckle bearing like this recently.
The scotch tape trick is a good idea. I always covered my Wanderer/Feigao back bearings right off the bat, and keep them oiled. (less is more, there)

Loosing both, ESC and motor, at the same time hurts. I hope you'll have some better luck with your next setup.

ryanvm777 11.20.2005 12:57 PM

I dought it, now with lipo's and supper runtimes, that leaves more time for problems and crashes. LOL

Serum 11.20.2005 01:21 PM

you need a BL setup first to crash into something Ryan.. (ouch, that was below the belt...)

ryanvm777 11.20.2005 01:53 PM

I have "bl" setup .....bearingless setup

Serum 11.20.2005 01:55 PM

lmao... that is one creative find sherlock..

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 11.20.2005 02:08 PM

I am sorry to hear about your loss Ryan. My condolences to you and your truck.
