Capactiors
I found two 25V 2200uf capactors in a old charger. I was thinking of putting them on my mm. Does any one know how to wire them, and will they work.

More info required:
Are they low esr & rated for 105*C? It should say on the cap, or there will be a part number that you can look up on digikey or radioshack: http://dkc1.digikey.com/us/digihome.html As for wiring them up, just solder the + leg to the + power wire, and the - to the - power wire (battery wires) as close to the esc as possible. You may have to make some little flyleads for them if the legs are too short to reach both wires and be soldered in place securely. |
Why a low esr?? i've a standard electrolitic 35V, 3200uF on my MM and work very good.
Never look for a lowESR:neutral: |
There rated 85*C, but having two they shouldn't make them get as hot right. There also made by Rubycon.

The side with the white stripe is the negative side:yes:

Low esr for a few reasons, but mainly because they have have low internal resistance, so they wont heat up as much, and can deliver their load more quickly when required, or something along those lines (where's Brian when you need him?).
85*C should be okay, thats still pretty damn hot and you wont likely heat them up that much under most normal circumstances. At worst, they will go pop and you'll have to get some different ones, but its probably worth trying them at anyrate. |

The temperature rating doesn't really matter here, as regular caps are pretty much always rated at 85 deg. C, but all low ESR caps are rated at 105 deg. C to my knowledge. |
Can you tell me how can i know if my cap are a low ESR???
On mine, the only thing i can see on it is 105deg, 50V, 3200uF..... And what does mean ESR:neutral: E=? S=? R=? |

Mine don't say if they are low ERS, I also couldn't find it on there website. Here is the site:www.rubycon.com

OK good, but can you tell me the advantage to put this capacitors on the input lead of the MM?? I run it on 4s on a crt.5. should i realy need it??? And i've a fan on my MM. For now, i've my MM in my slash with a Neu 1509 2700Kv, on 3s and after a good 30 minutes of hard bashing, the ESC is about 100 degre.. |
David - I can only measure from experience - I had 2 mm fail when I didn't use an extra cap. Since adding a 2700 cap I havn't lost one yet. I even added one to the mmm. If it helps mike does the same. Aurevoir.

When you fail your MM without the caps, what was your setup??
