Buggy wheels on REVO?
 

i'm looking for the max speed out of my 6s revo. Would buggy wheels work since they're not as thick? or are they too small? i havnt owned a 1/8 buggy so i'm not 100% sure

If you're looking for a speed machine, the buggy wheel on a revo won't help you anymore, because 1/8 buggy wheels have only 4.6" in diameter, so what you want is bigger wheel to reach higer speed.

BUT, the buggy wheel is lighter, and if you have enough place to gear it higher, this can be a good option.

If i was at your place, i would choose proline serie 40 wheel with 40 serie road rage tire

I'd go with the unglued phaltlines. The preglued ones have a tendency to rip off the rims at high speed. :oh:

Depends on just what kind of speeds your looking to get! I beleive thats a 2700kv motor which puts you up there pretty high in RPMs but with 54/25 gearing and buggy wheels you should break into the 70s. Buggy wheels would be different but they have a lot less rotating mass and would put a lot less strain on your setup vs MT tires and the appropriate gearing for the same speed

HPI Phaltlines are the only tires to have.. here is a video of a 4s and then a 6s lipo run, 62mph max, but I never geared up. I have hit 65mph on that exact setup (gps'ed) but it wasn't on video. This setup could have easily hit 70+ mph if I had more gearing options at the time.

Have you considered foams?
Some ppl going for top-speed still had considerable ballooning using phaltlines.

I have a set of the imex foams, and they look like the best bet for speed runs. They do have a 14mm hex, but are a decent height.

ive had phatlines and 40 road rages before but dont like it...

i'm gonna try foams next =]

i just didnt know they made foams for trucks...

ppl have also recommended 1/8 touring car foamies, but I never found any that were big enough. I tried searching for bigger ones as well, 1/7th, 1/6th, etc...but never found any:neutral:

Linc, These things tend to blow up once you start to get in the 60 mph range. I blew a few of these off the rims with a setup that was thoretically only good for mid 50's. The foam on these is rather thick and tends to rip the foam down near where its glued. Once tit goes.... it goes! Shrapnel all over the place. Im sure you could get higher speeds from them if you cut the foam thickness down so there would be less weight in the foam and they wouldnt tear. But then tire life wouldnt be very long.

I think you should use a car that isnt a monster truck if you just want high speed. Why are people obsessed with forcing things to do stuff theyre not meant to? :neutral: I mean its not like running a MM out of spec (ie getting more for your money kind of thing...) its just plain silly.

To each their own I guess. I'd say go with some street tyres and balance and strap them really well to stop any wobbles or balooning.

The buggy foams would be your best bet. The foams will help you maintain control of the car. I put a set of Phaltlines on my brushless 8T and they blew off at about 75mph. You will have to get creative on gearing or go with a higher kv motor depending on what speeds you are looking for.
