Brushless Jato Conversion Kit.
I was wondering if anyone would be intrested in a brushless Jato conversion kit.? I plan on making a couple of sets, but I just want to make sure there will be buyers and I'm not just wasting my money.
Let me know -Joe |
what kind of price? and do you already have one done for pictures?
|
I'd be interested in seeing what you've got there since I thought I was the only one :)

I dont have pictures, I was just wondering if peple would want one before I start CAD'ing it, and getting machined. I am prolly going to borrow a jato from my friend since he is packing it up for the winter, and I then will get all of the measurements and start the proecess, I just want to see if there will be people to buy once I get them done.

How are you going to do it? With the origional tranny, or are you going to redo the tranny?
|
what kind of price would it be?
|
Im thinking about redoing the rear differential, but people might not want to do that. I dont know about the price yet becaseu I would have to figure out what the machining price would be.
|
You thinking about a ball diff? So far I have had no problems with the stock gear diff on mine. I've actually been plenty happy with the durability of the tranny and diff.
I'm curious about how you plan to mount the batteries, etc. Do you have a drawing you're working from? Will you use the tranny with the one-way and keep the mechanical brake? Plenty of questions since I was thinking of putting together a kit myself ;) |
I like the gear diff to, but i would like to see a gearbox with the top two gears moved to the rear so the motor can be mounted in a more standard position and the battery can be mounted longitudinally in the chassis.

Sounds cool!
I converted a Nitro 2.5 rustler to electric. Wasn't too cost efficient but it was fun. Really easy actually as long as you have an electric tranny and a spare controller and motor kicking around. The jato will be much more complicated I am sure.Never owned one of those. |
Knowing what I know now, after 3 revisions and a bunch of trial and error, I can say that at least for me the conversion wasn't all that bad.
To get a new Jato from nitro to my V3 stage would take me about 2 hours, a 1.5x4 piece of aluminum, a pair of Associated battery cups, and some Shoe Goo. Not counting labor time cost would be about $10. Plus electronics, of course. In it's current state it's actually a viable racer as well as a basher. |
You like the new jato or your old xxx-t better? I don't see why one would convert a nitro stadium since electrics are more suited. The only reason i would see is the completely different design.
