22T Mod1 Pinions
Does anybody know where I can get a Mod 1 5mm bore 22T pinion? The largest that I can find is a 20T pinion. Thanks.
Those are RARE! perhaps Mike can have you one made? what is the use for that large size?
Best person to ask is Mike,i know he has some 24T stock because he just made me a pinion from it.
I'm using a 54T Spur Gear and a 18T pinion in my Brushless Hyper 7. It has an enormous amount of torque and I would like to see what kind of top-end speed I could obtain by switching to a 20T and 22T pinion. I just ordered the 20T pinion from Mike and it was shipped today, so we'll see how much speed it provides.
Mike, Could you have a 22T Mod 1 5mm bore pinion made? Also, could it be made using a 3mm set screw instead of 2mm? If so, how much? Thanks. |
That's a very high gearing,i think your shulze may be on the endangered species list with the 4-pole bigmaxx on that kind of gearing.Does it not run hot with a 18T?
I'm not sure if it runs hot with the 18T, because the only night that I ran it, was about 29 degrees F. When I was researching the center transmission options, it was recommended to use a 51T spur with a 14T pinion, which is almost the exact same gear ratio as the 65T/18T combination that I'm using. If the gear ratio is the same will the motor have to work harder to spin the 65T/18T combo vs. the 51T/14T combo?
Oh,OK you said 54/18,i thought you were going to go 54/22,couldn't you use a smaller spur instead and use the pinions you already have?
I did make a mistake in my previous post. I'm using a 65T spur gear with a 18T pinion gear.
I'm not aware of any smaller plastic spur gears that will fit on the Ofna Monster Pirate slipper transmission that I'm using. |
the 51 fits on as well Takes a little work though, but Ryan did that too on his maxx.
If my current configuration gives me any problems, I'll have my machinist make a custom adapter disc so that I can use the Ofna 51T plastic spur gear.
I will see about some 22 tooth stock. The 20 tooth pinion has a 4mm set screw on it, as all the carbon steel pinions in the store do.
Thanks Mike. The 4mm set screw is perfect. I look forward to seeing the performance with the 20T pinion, and will wait to hear from you concerning the 22T.
