Mamba max on a Hv maxx motor?

Hi,
I've got a mamba max esc and i want to run it with a HV max motor on 2x6 nimh packs. I will use an external bec and put a cooling fan on the mamba max.
Will this work?
PS it will be going in a savage for a couple of months then it will go into a rustler.

yes.

xd,

Will it overheat or anything?
I will probably go for the 6.5

on 12 cells it should be fine :D

Just bear in mind the gearing- you will still have to gear it rather low (12-15/68 or equivalent) for use in the savage if its about 10lb in weight, but in the rusty it will be fine on taller gearing- better suited to lighter vehciles anyway...

if you miss on the gearing it will overheat the motor. and since you arent using the novak esc that shuts down the system you will end up with a round paperweight. novak motors have a very narrow window for proper gearing so be careful.

Just check the temps fairly often and make sure it says under 170. When geared properly, novak motors can be some of the coolest running motors.

should i go for a different motor?
In the UK Hv max motors are 100 pounds ($200)
should i get a feigao 8xl?

Also suicideniel where is a good place to buy large brushless motors in the UK?

i have not used a hvmaxx motor with a mamba max recently , but i have ran a hvmaxx 4.5 motor in a e-revo with a mamba monster , ran very well , just use novaks rec. gearing , with a 12 tooth pinion it was good 135* @ the end of motor and 125* on the big heatsink , with a 13 it went up to 155* at the end bell and 145* on the heatsink, so gear accordingly

Whatever you do, stay away from feigao. If the novak is too expensive, go for a medusa 60mm 2000kv motor.

Agreed, stay away from feigaos if possible.

In the UK, there is pretty much no-where to buy proper BL motors like your typical Neus, Hackers, lehners etc, everything has to be imported.

As it is, I'd say something like a 1515 2d will work fine on 12cells for the savage, but it would be too much for the rusty- very different vehicles, not really possible (or sensible) to recycle the motor from the larger truck to the smaller one.

My solution would be to buy a ~1900kv XL motor to run in savy, and something similar in L can size for the rusty.

hmm. ok,
I will probably turn my hyper 7 roller chassis (rusting in the cupboard) into brushless then.
Suicideniel, which one would be good for me? 12cells is the max ill be going on it. and i also want maybe 40mph tops on the savage with 2speed.
I know nothing about these motors :/

suicideneil 10.29.2008 08:33 AM

9XL is fine for 12 cells, but ideally you wouod be running lipo or A123 cells in something that large- nimh is fine for lighter vehicles, but heavier stuff puts much more strain on the electronics. I would be suprised if you managed anything over 30-35mph, regardless of motor choice, since the lower kv motors are less demanding of the batts, but need more voltage, and the higher kv motors will spin faster, but suck the life out of your batts....

Treat the bidproduct motors like feigaos though, they are very similar in the end.
