MT-8ight...
3 Attachment(s)
Check it out....its definitely NOT a project X so i'm posting it in the buggy thread but i had this idea of having a 4wd MT not as heavy as a Muggy/LST2....or as big as a truggy.....and that would be easier to wrench on than a Revo....and i wanted something that had a center diff and was proven to be tough as nails.....so this came along....I call it the MT-8ight (monster truck 8ight )......you can only bash your buggy in certain places so i made my extra 8ight into a MT....here's some pics:
Attachment 5706 Attachment 5707 Attachment 5708 its basically an 8ight with the following changes: -Mugen Wheel hubs X5T (hubs are approx. 10-12mm wider than stock...i think ....i'll give measurements later but they are a lot longer than the stock 8ight's) -Dirt Dawgs mounted on Imex rims (the offset on these rims make the truck even wider) -all shocks mounted on inside holes on towers -body posts mounted onto the front and rear shock towers -TBR front and rear bumpers/skid plates -7,000 front 30,000 center 5,000 rear -and of course the common MMM/Neu 1515 1/y/f combo on 4s 4800 zippy-r's... and i figure if i get bored with this setup i still have another 8ight OR I can easily change this thing into a CORR truck b/c i already have the body posts mounted along with the front and rear bumpers.... let me know what you guys think... |
Top job, would never of guessed it was an 8ight
|
kinda like an oldschool Unlimited MT, before they were "truggies", back when it was the unlimited monster truck category, when marty korn spanked ass with the GS racing SUT.
i know that has to be a fun truck. shorter wheelbase than a truggy for more MT wheelies and jumping, while you got the toughness, handling, and simplisity of a buggy, very cool! |
Looks pretty sweet ! Like Drift said, I would have never guessed there was an 8ight under the hood.

thanks guys!!!...i took her out today to bash and i'm 1,000% pleased with it.....it only has about 2 1/2" or maybe more of clearance but it does the job.... plus it handle like a buggy......i would almost compare it to being the same size as the old e-maxx or maybe a stampede.....and best of all if anything breaks....i got tons of spare parts!!!!....maybe in the future i'll make it a CORR truck once the RC8's come out and use their body's...

It looks like a lot fun for bashing.. Winter fun :) Only bad thing is you couldn't actually race with it as it doesn't meet "MT" requirements, as long as you don't race... I'm wondering what the CORR spec class rules will be for next year, I'm thinking most any buggy will convert pretty easy over to CORR spec, body posts & body w/ wheels and maybe a new extended bumper.
How about some shots of the insides? What body posts did you go with? |
i used body posts from HPI and i just mounted them onto the front and rear shock towers....i'll post some pic's of the inside as soon as i get off work on thursday morning...and i was also thinking about winterizing it as well..probably a traxxas sealed reciever box/their water resistant servos/and coat the crap out of an extra MM i have laying around...it should be fun...and this is strictly a basher as well...
