bk6xl mgm120 on 4s lipo
just got that idea in my head, would it work? im just thinking if it would work it could be faster than my original plan , which was a feigao 8xl 9920 on 6s lipo, sence it should be lighter. i dont mind losing a few mph, i just like the idea better sence i can save $$ on lipos and i like the design if the mgm controller better. but any way what to you guys think
What you save by getting few series Lipo cells you lose by getting packs that can handle more amps. The 6XL could probably pull more than you are thinking. How about a 7XL and 5s Lipo as an in-between?
I agree.
How fast are you trying for? The 7xl will work with 4s as well.
i just wont it light and fast as i can get it, my truck right now is lighter than i though it was going to be when i was working on it, going by feal maby 6 lbs give or take without any electronics, i wont it as far under 10 as i can get. as far as the packs, if i go with this idea, i plan on running those 20c packs from flight power there 3700 4s1p pack can take 74amps so 2 of those in parallel sould get me 140 that sould be more that plenty :D
A pair of their 3s 3300 evo 20 is lighter and more powerful, and with an 8 or 9xl you won't need a controller able to handle all those amps from the hot 6 turn.Your origional plan makes much more sense to me.You said you want it light and fast, well then you need volts and all the cells in series.
Also 2 3s packs and a 9920 is cheaper than 2 4s packs and the MGM 160(which kicks into reverse every time you brake, lift off then brake, unless this is resolved now?) |
ya but those packes wired in series is only 66amps. and i know a 8 or 9xl pulls more than that
It's 66 amps continuous,so it would rip.A pair of 3s 3700 evo 20 is still lighter and cheaper than the pair of 4s 3700(and more powerful).I just said the 3300 because it would be lighter still and still kick out plenty of amps.

i thought when running lipos you have to have the same amp rating on the batts as on the motor
You don't. My 8L was rated at ~80amps, and the batteries were 40amps continuous, and were fine. The motor's amp rating really doesn't mean anything. To be on the safe side, you would really only need something with 45-50amps continuous.
Stampy I run an 8xl on 6s lipo in my savage and my Eagletree showed 42amps continuous on flat ground at 47mph.
ah that clears things up so much thks guys :D. i think i will go with my first plan, the 8xl 6s on a bk9920
