Medusa motor discolored by motor spray??
So my V2 36-60 2000kv motor needed a quick blast of motor spray...some of the spray got on the outside of the can, and basically "tarnished" the blue anodizing...what the?
Anyone else have this issue? I've never had anodizing get hazed by motor spray like this before. |
yep any hard degrease will strip the anodize right off. Dont use oven cleaner either that stuff is real potent to anodize.
|
I don't think motor spray specifically sold to clean r/c motors should remove anodizing though...I've used this same spray to clean shock bodies, brushed motors, even my 1515 1.5d, and none of them have had this problem. I thought maybe the Medusas anodizng wasn't quite as "permanent"...
|
could be but i used motor spray on shocks before and the shock caps all got de anodized. The motor spray is a degreaser just lighter.

Hmmm...wonder how you're supposed to clean the motor without getting at least SOME spray on the can...even if you're careful spraying the inside of the motor, shaking/blowing it out could get some on the can.
