Kyosho St-RR build
2 Attachment(s)
Well im putting this truck together (conversion and electronics wise) for a friend, he is kinda our local pro driver, this will be his first electric car, he is in for a big shock when he gets ahold of all the power he has been missing out on.
This started as his race truck from this year (he has bought a new st-rr kit to run nitro next year), since its been raced hard the chassis was BADLY worn in the back so i made a skid plate from .080 6061 T4 plate, little late to protect but itll reinforce it a little bit and prevent any further wear. Ill be using my 1515 2.5D F out of my xray with new bearings, along with mikes front and rear covers (i replaced it with a tekno 1512), a Mamba Monster Maxx esc from holmes hobbies, Mike's new BAD ass lipos in the 5000 5s2p version, Ill alos be using RCM pinions, RCM Kyosho motor mount, and RCM custom tray (like brian's for the 5s2p lipo), im using a slash reciever box, and a Kyosho transponder mount. any suggestion on things i should look at on the MMM V3 prior to installing and running, id like to prevent any trouble if i can because josh know's nothing about brushless or ANYthing electric. MMM should be here tomorrow and mike's order willl be in on friday and saturday i gotta give it to josh out at the track |
Should be a killer setup
|
yea the SOB didnt send me any tires with the truggy so i cant even drive it until i get to the track on saturday.........

finished the MMM wiring and mount, i decided to raise the MMM off the chassis to help keep it out of the dirt so much, and to protect it from w/e can come through the holes in the bottom of the chassis. and its velrcod to the 2mm aluminum plate with 3M industrial velcro (will prolly put a zip tie over the top just incase). i havent setup the MMM yet but none of the females were touching the heat sinks to start off with but i bent the two fins in next to each one and slid some hard yellow shrink on them anyways. and in one pic youll see my battery jsut proped up in there to mock for mikes battery which i hope comes today with the tray and motor mount, if not ill be scrambling to get it together early as i can tomorrow after i can get the package off the P/O truck.
front to rear balance is 1.080 inches forward of center of wheelbase, left to right balance im still not 100% on my numbers but i believe its going to be 60/40 battery side heavy, it would have been 50/50 if i had mounted the MMM behind the motor but i didnt like it there. |
Coming along very nice, how much longer till it is running?
|
itll be running tomorrow i didnt get mike package today so i gotta get it first thing in the morning and jsut bolt it up and charge the lipo while im assembling it, im setting up the radio and all the setting right now using my little 5s so itll just be bolt up and go tomorrow.
and i need the tires and wheels that he didnt send............. |
Just throw your buggy ones on for a test run.

the MMM died a bec death after only 8-9 minutes on the first pack. but it worked amazing while it did. |
Damn, unlucky with the MMM
|
Is there anything more reliable out there than the MMM seems quite a few die a quick BEC death....
