Just notice this motor in the brushless section. Anyone try it yet?

I have this motor in my Hyper 8. It's got decent power, but tends to run a bit hot on 6s. I think a Medusa Afterburner 36-60-1600 is a better choice for less dough.

I have, and I would say that a medusa 60mm v2 motor is superior at the same price. The align motor makes good torque, but has a slower spool up time, and it a bit noisy. Plus the quality is not as good as the medusa. Fells a bit weird to drive compared to a std inrunner.

I had one in my E-Maxx... Was pretty fast, good torque, but fried on its 15th run (and I was only running 4S LiPo when it fried, and before that run 12 cells NiMH). It died a very very smokey death. Never really found a true cause for its death, but based on what alot of people said, most likely a short somewhere in the windings. For the price it is a decent motor, but to bring out its true potential, would probably have to get it rewound, something I never had done to my 600XL.

I used one in my Rustler for a while. I know, Rustlers aren't a very big load to put on a motor but it was geared for 65 mph- so that probably made it feel heavier... The motor performed very well. I never had heat issues, and it never cogged or felt jittery. I was using a MGM 16016 on 4s LiPo.

One thing about the 600XL I really like is the sound it makes. The internal fan sounds like a jet when it gets going, and when you coast it "spools down". In fact, that is what made me look into these motors after I saw a video of a Revo that was using one.

Share that info then :) All my 600XL does is run hot, and all it's doing right now is just sitting on my bench.

My friend rewound the 600xl which then I sold to a friend which sold it to BL_RV0. If you would like to contact him just let me know. I can give him a call.

Ah yeah, I know mtx. So did the rewind solve the heat problems? What kv did you end up with? He offered to rewind mine once, I might just have to take him up on it if it worked out good for you.

I'm not sure if it did. I had never ran the motor when it hadn't been rewound. It ran about 135 in my hyper st on 5s last time I ran the motor. I have ordered a bunch of parts for my hyper st (MMM, 6s batts) and the batts will be the last thing to get here. They will arrive anywhere from saturday to mid next week. I'll do some testing and i hope that she'll run well. Geated for about 35 with the 6s batts, (10,52) If it runs well with 10/52 i will get a 12t pinion and do some more testing. I ended up with about 1680kv, stock wind. He can rewind it to an kv you want, though.
