Direct Drive Brushless Gearbox

Go to Kershaw and check out their Savage Direct Drive Brushless Gearbox. Looks promising!

Looks interesting. I wonder what gearing options it has? I am guessing that center gear is quite large, in order to get the motor far enough from the rear output. That is the only issue with a 2 gear trans, usually gearing is limited.

Unfortunately for Kershaw that isn't direct drive... That's a transmission.

I think the meaning is, that it does away with milti-speed and one-ways. But you are correct, its still a tranny

Looks good. I might have to try it when I get around to converting my savage.

More than one gear ratio (excluding the diffs) = Not direct drive.

Still looks really nice though.

We know what "Direct Drive" is!

Don't we Metalman?

LOL

Maybe he meant it doesn't use a clutch? I don't see a slipper either...

It uses the stock savage slipper.

Oh. Duh......

looks like a simple and effective way to convert a savage to me, I hope it fits in my extended lcg fastlane nitro chasis

Electric Eel 11.28.2008 08:52 AM

I don't care if direct drive is "technically" correct or not. I'm just glad that someone is actually making brushless specific Savage drive train parts. It seems that Traxxas gets the majority of the attention.

I bet a lot of Savage users will like the fact that it weighs soo much less than the stock transmission.

Fast5sRevo88 11.29.2008 05:46 PM

This may be dumb to ask, but i guess it would work with the FLM tranny forward chassis? Since it gives u the option of dog bones, i guess the stock ones are too short?

BL_RV0 11.29.2008 05:55 PM

I doubt it would work.
