Pheonix programming without a Pistix
Hey guys,
I am trying a CC HV85 for the first time on 10S this weekend. I know some of you have been able to get it to work without a Pistix adaptor. I would appreciate if anyone can give me some guide lines on where to start with the settings to get it to work. Also, for those of you who have had success with this, have you ran a seperate mechanical brake strictly or is there some type of brakes in the ESC?? Not looking for anything progressive, just some braking help! This is for a high speed truggy that does not have mechanical brake ability at this time. Thanks for your help!! |

Thanks AZ. I really don't need brakes where I run. I was just curious. Still, I need to know how I can get it to work without the pistix.

OK guys, I have discovered the secret to get this to work with no issues!! After constant playing with the radio I tried something no one mentioned in any info I looked up. Here is the trick........BOAT MODE!!!
Now, this only applies to FUTABA as I do not know any other radio that has this feature. All of my settings and trims are standard. The radio disables the brake feature internally which apparently lets the Pheonix arm normally. Here is what happens.........When you plug in the ESC power, the ESC arms itself and is LIVE. No need to hold brake or play with the mid throttle searching. The radio works just like normal. As a bonus, I discovered that you DO have a drag brake as well. The ESC has a motor brake stop feature that will "drag" stop the motor when you release the trigger back to neutral. Now on the bench, the settings are very abrupt and I can see potential problems if someone uses this under high speed apps or a heavy vehicle. The smoothest setup that worked in line with linear braking was setting the brake amount no more than 20% and the brake ramp up at "super slow". I definately suggest you bench test before trying it under load. Lastly, this will NOT work if you are using mechanical brake. The brake function being disabled in boat mode does not seem to send any signal when you apply brake on the trigger. I hope this helps more people out there now that the Pistix adaptor is not available anymore!! Good Luck!! |
