Typhoon 600 series "6-pole"

I was wondering if anyone here on RCM besides lutach has these motors? For the price and what you get it seems great. Comes with 6-poles, 36-70 size, choice between 1030kv-2050kv. Ive been eyeing up these motors for awhile but dont know if I should take the plunge and order one or not...

Hey ryan, wasnt this the same motor that you told me not to post about a while back so the prices dont go up?

What would you use this in? They are the typical 70mm X 36mm dims (like Feigao), recommended to run in the 35-40krpm range (judging by their recommended voltage), and has a max efficiency of 85%. The one with the highest max power, Typhoon 600-32, is rated for 800w. For ~$83, it just seems like a 6-pole Feigao, nothing special according to specs alone.

Yep. The secrets out now...

The watt ratings dont mean much to me. Ive ran low watt motors in 1/8's that had gobs of power and ran cool such as the hextronik outrunners .

Whats so different about it? Looks like its rated for 40k rpm like any other motor
Didnt you only run the hexitronic in your Wayne's pede?

I wasn't really focusing on the wattage, just the fact it seems pretty typical in specs and price...

They might work on a buggy as they are truly a 60mm motor and not 70. The size is somewhat with the shaft included. Mine went bad in my truggy.

BrianG 12.05.2008 02:00 PM

So really, it's more of an L sized motor. Hmm. Not impressed.

lutach 12.05.2008 03:02 PM

Made specially for EDFs units with constant airflow to the motor to keep it cool. It could work great in a buggy, but in a truggy a longer version would be helpful.

Actually we ran it in the raven a few times to. Only on 2s though seeing that we couldnt fit 4s in the w/o some serious upper strap mods which I didnt want to do at the time.

Sounds like a align 600L motor.

Someone should hit you on the head . It would've been better if you said, "Sounds like a Mega or a 6 pole Plettenberg". Those are the only motors that I know the Typhoon resembles which are all inrunner (Not an outrunner in a inrunner style case as the 600L is) with Kevlar wrapped 6 pole rotor.
