Novak HV4.5 in a ESavage, and a 5.5 in a EMaxx?

Well, I've been thinking long and hard, and might just want to go brushless. :mad:Grrr, I hate this money part of the hobby. :(

Anyways, I was thinking about a HV4.5 in the ESavage, that should be enough to wreck the diffs and driveshafts every other run or so (knock on wood).

And perhaps a 4.5 in the EMaxx or maybe a 5.5 as well..

I'm looking for the best bang for my buck. :D

My maxx is pretty upgraded as far as driveshafts go, bulkheads and diffs on the other hand....

Anyways, I was looking for any thoughts.
Cheap is better.
I've had enough of Fieagos....

Not sure the hv line are better motors then the feigaos..
I would get a medusa and a mamba max and leave it be

At this point imo the MMM combo is your best bet.But I do like my 4.5 alot more then my 8xl.But the Medusa is better then both, and the CC motor is probably better then that.

x2. Get the MMM 2200 combo for the emaxx and a MM and medusa for the esavage.

I have to agree - unless you are looking at buying a used system, the MMM combo is best bang for the buck.

+1 again. Given a Hvmaxx pro system cost about the same, if not more than a MMM system, and is less powerful and more trucky to gear correctly, I'd take the MMM everytime. Just go easy on the throttle trigger, its a big leap from brushed to BL, regardless of the specifc route... :mdr:

I keep hearing people say that its hard to gear the Novak. I have found that to not be true. Yes, Novak stipulates a specific gearing range, but every motor system will have its sweet spot to get the temp's correct. For a given voltage, I doubt if the MMM will have a much bigger range to keep temps in order.

It's not that the novak is hard to gear.It just has limited gearing options.I loved mine at 14/68,12/68 and the esc would get to hot,and I'm sure any higher gearing would have had the motor hot.But in it's sweet spot I was always real happy with it.But there are people running the MMM combo everywhere from 18/68 to 25/68 on 4s,with no heat problems, which basically allows you to gear what your batteries will supply,or to how fast you want to go.

Wanna bet?

You are correct in that the hvmaxx is easy to gear correcty- if the user follows the instructions (the number of people who have fried these things because didnt just isnt funny). Due to the higher power output and greater efficiency of the neu type motor design, it will be possible to gear these motors much lower or higher without risking permanent damage, as demonstrated by countless users in the past (how many times have we seen the old 'it wouldnt go over 160*f no matter what I did' etc etc when talking about neu motors?). The lipos and esc will yield before the motor will usually, and even then, decent lipos should be fine, and the MMM esc can handle an aweful lot more power than a hvmaxx could dream of...

The MMM is a much more versatile system- wanna go faster? just add more lipos and drop the gearing a touch, 30-60mph is easily doable, vs 35-38mph for the hvmaxx, or 45mph and a flaming death if you are inclined to try it...

Now that the MMM combo is available it's definitly the better system. But I refuse to let a blasphimous statement like that go uncommented on. :) I ran my 4.5 for months with no problems, and never overheated it,even in the summer at 100*.It ran 47 mph.Now maybe I have the exception motor to the rule, and my buddy did fry the esc,but 45 is doable no problem.

So, a MMM Combo w/ a 2200kV Motor, for the EMaxx.
And what Medusa motor for the ESavage?

I'll give ya the nod that the higher efficiency will give you some additional wiggle room. Remember, I also said the MMM/Neu was a better system, so crank down the guns a little.
I believe the "I couldnt get it over 160 no matter what I did" line about as much as I believe the guys that claim they consistently get 25+mpg at 80 mph in their 1 ton diesel pickups on another forum I'm on.
I'd almost put money on it that Castle is now fixing some amount of "bad" esc's that they probably feel were actually caused due to overheating that could have been avoided. Read between the lines on the thread they posted yesterday. Every other line was about heat. I think they are more than a little concerned about it. I still believe this combo is a better buy than the HV, but I do have to say my piece when the HV slappers come out!

I have had the 36-60-2000 for quite awhile and have been real happy with that,in my Erevo.I believe that the Esavage has limited room for a motor,so that might be your best bet.But if your going to limit it to 4s a higher kv might be better option, when they are available.

I think the much anticipated 70 series would be a good choice (but just based on what I've read).
