Noob Lipo Charging Questions
Being new to lipo's ,,i bought a couple of NEU 5s 4900's about a month ago and havent done anything to them yet :oh:....am i hurting anything by letting them sit ??...should i have put a charge in them by now??...using the Hyperion eos5idp charger w/hyperion lba10 balancer,what should the settings be for the first charge ??....thanks guys for helping and for any advice on this

I don't think you're hurting them letting them sit for 1 month. At the 2-3 month mark I'd say check the voltage. New (and I mean new) packs usually have a storage charge in them already which can be from 50% to 80% of a full charge. For the first charge the normal 1C rate is fine, so for you it would be 4.9 amps (make sure it's on the 5s setting!). I've read that the first few discharges sould only bring the pack down to 40% or so; not all the way to the cut-off.

5i is 50w limited so 5s and anything over about 2500mah setting - It will only ever charge those packs at .5c.
You can always cycle it on the charger - It will take a while at .5c :) |
