Question about Neu
if you have a 1515/2.5d/f/h
what does the H stand for and can the motor be used or modified to use in a truggy or monster truck? |
IDK what the h stands for, but maybe it could be the heli version.
I have mine in my CRT, hold on you have a 2.5d in a CRT also. am I missing something here. |

ye I have one in my crt but mine is not the H version and I'm wondering if you can you an H version in a truggy |
That's the Heli version, IIRC it has a cooling fan on it to keep the temps down because there isn't as much airflow around it as there would be in a plane.
|
All it means is that it is made for helis and has an internal fan.
|
heli version .. the fan on the heli version pulls air into it from the rear endbell though so you need to make a screen or something so you dont suck pebbles in it. I think one sucking air out would be better but thats why I dont have an engineering degree :mdr:
|
so the answer is yes it will perform as well as a none H version?
|
yeah sure and probably cooler, just need to make a screen
|
i was told by neu NOT to use it in a car at all, i suggested about using a filter on the back and they still said NO, plus the can has a 50mm outter diameter and are alot longer and heavier too.
if you need a 1515 buy one from mike i talked to him to today and he as a couple 1515 2.5d finned cans he got in yesterday.......no need to buy that heli version, its made for a clean air environment not dirt. |

The only problem with those 2 points is that either way, the fan is moving air through the motor. Either by sucking it in the rear, and out the front, or sucking it in the front and blowing it out the rear, depending on whether the fan on the rear is a blower or sucker...
That wasnt ment to sound rude I swear. Ordinarily though, a fan works better blowing down onto a heatsink for example in order to reduce its temp, and thus the temp of the item its attached too (2nd law of TD again a the heat migrates to the cooler part of the assembly). A fan designed to suck air works best as an exhaust system on a pc case for example, where it draws the hot air out of the pc via a centrifugal fan (horses for courses and all that). :) |

... sorry... couldn't resist the chance for a spaceballs quote. :intello: |

Ok I called Neu today about this and they said it would run in a car just fine....but I did a little reseach and compared the specs here is the only two differance I found the non H motor ohms is 0.01 Io@10v is 2.25 the H motor ohms is 0.091 Io@10v is 1.1 can someone decifer that for me? Brian? |
wow they really should be more consistant with what they tell people, but hey i called on 3 different days 3 different times to finally talk to some who would sell me bearings for my motors.....
also i could have sworn i was told it pulled air from the front and pushed out the back...... I still dont think its a good idea unless your just one of those guys who plays with offroad cars in parking lots. id get a normal one or a teckno one its not like your gonna have heat problems with a 2.5d or 5-6s, i ran 30 minute main on july 4th with mine on 5s and it never broke 150.... the H version is for helis theyre the only ones that need it. |
