Quark 33A Pro Car?

Hi!

I'm thinking of buying a Quark 33A ESC, but I want to hear your opinion. The importest thing: Will it get hot on 3S LiPo?
And somebody told me it's damn hard to setup the ESC, is this true?
And if you have other negative/postiv things, please tell me!

Thanks,

Patrick

You should just go for the Mamba Micro Pro. Makes more sense to me.

^ +1 I have a Mamba 25 and love it, smooth as silk, can only imagine that the micro pro and sidewinder micro are even better

I had a M-25 in my trinity now and I ran it on 3s. Was a very smooth esc and never really had any issues with it.

I've got a mamba-25 and it's 70C (158F) after a 3 minutes run.. :whip:

All depends on your setup I guess...

I've run a 3S LiPo with a 3550KV brushless motor and a 8000KV brushless motor. Temperatures are not very different...

on the other hand i have the quark 33 amp pro, and it will handle 5s, i have loved mine for 2 years. setup is rather easy you just need the reference guide (online) or on parer. just another opinion:yipi:
good luck

I agree with takedown because mine barely even gets warm after about an hour of practice in my mini late model

Then I guess its time for a higher amp esc like the MMP or you need to check for binding.

Well, assuming you still want that ESC, here are the answers to your questions:

Will it get hot on 3s? Depends. Current is what heats up ESCs. As long as the motor current is kept reasonable, it should be fine on 3s (or higher). But, on 3s+, I'd run an external BEC.

Hard to set up? A little clunky, but not "hard". IIRC, the setup is the same as the Quark 125B, and I've never had problems with it. Most of the time, I set up an ESC and then keep it that way. If you're gonna be fiddling with settings all the time, it can be a PITA.

Positives: If it's anything like its bigger brothers (80/125A), it runs any motor smooth as silk. I would add a heatsink to help with temps.

Negatives: Support may be a problem.

I like Quark, but a Castle ESC may be the best bang for the buck.

I have both a Pro Car 33a and a Universal 33a (does anyone have the program instructions for the 33 universal? I think the online link is dead..)

I fried my Pro Car on 4s and have never heard from Quark again. On 3s it used to perform flawlessly. Once I can program my 33a Universal, it's going to stay on 3s. It has been very difficult to contact Quark, I've tried since last June with no luck. So take this into consideration as well.

If the manual is the same as the 65/80/125BB: Quark PDF

Ok thank you for all your replies! I'll buy a Quark 33A as soon as I see one for a good price.

But yesterday I bought a other ESC: Quark Competition 80B! I never interested me for Quarks ESC's on eBay but I bought this one for $78 and I think that is not bad, is it?
Ok, I already saw some replies about Quarks service. Is their service still not very good? If I run my 80B on 3S and it will catch a fire, they won't give me a new one?

Thanks,

Patrick
