Protecting battery in Buggy or Truggy?

So after breaking a few batts which caused me to blow 3 MMM's I finally figured out that I need to protect my batts better.

I am using a foam in the front of the tray and velcro in the back with velcro on the batts. Anyone got some other ideas on how I can protect my 6S lipos from my crappy driving.

thanks.

I was in the same position as you destroyed a NEW 6s 6000mah. An expensive learning experience. I have now built a better battery tray out of 2mm aluminium, and padded it with neoprene. This keeps the battery tight in the case, and using a tie down strap instead of velcro means that it won't break free. I previously broke my gorilla maxx straps, hence the battery getting dislodged and trashed.

Mike's trays are pretty solid from what I've seen if you want a pre-made solution. Otherwise, a custom aluminum tray works well if made right. Here is an idea of what I do for many of my conversions: http://scriptasylum.com/bl_conversions/_hyper8.html

I use the velcro that comes on a roll. You can get it at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. Just wrap it around the tray or bolt the ends. I've never had them let go before, but I try not to set up the tray where the velcro is load-bearing.

I'm using Mike's battery tray with velcro and no problems so far. My battery is 45mm long while the tray is 168mm so I cut some foam pads from those kid's toy pads and inserted them in front and back. It also help me balance the truck by distributing the weight towards the front for better traction while turning.
