Carbon Fibre Glue

Hi, has anyone ever glued two pieces of carbon fibre together? If so what did you use and how strong was it? Many thanks.

Would cyanoacrylate bond well with CF?

Don't use CA. It will harden so much that it will make it brittle and more susceptible to cracking. Use a contact adhesive called UHU-POR which is more superior to all other glues. The nice thing about UHU-POR is that it never fully cures and remains slightly flexible meaning that it will let the carbon flex a bit in case of high stresses.

good tip G.. seems they carry it at Michaels, have 1 down the street, where I get my RIT dye. Just cut up some c/f for the Muggy and wanted to fix the ends http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=337447

There are also some 2-part epoxies that remain somewhat flexible when they cure. I can't think of a specific brand. Just sand the surfaces with 80 grit paper and it should be plenty strong.

ok, thanks for all your advice. I'll try the UHU-POR and let you know how i get on. Many thanks again.

carbon fiber glue

I personally used a brand Loctite E-120HP Hysol. It is a two part epoxy
and made for bonding carbon fiber. It is very strong but dry very slow.
This stuff is excellent on bonding carbon fiber. I got it from Grainger.
