Ofna 1/8 road car
 

I am really digging these road cars. I built a DM-1 Spec and this is my second on-road build. It is not quite finished. I still need to install a rear chassis brace to reduce chassis flex. I will probably use a couple of turnbuckles and attach them to the rear bulk and center diff mount.

Thanks...I wasn't too happy with the way I ran the receiver plug wire from the MMM to the RX. I had to run it under the motor. It is fine...as it doesn't touch anything and its out of the way from moving parts and there was plenty of space under the motor...it just looks funny. I tinkered around with running the ESC wire over and around the center diff mount and that was worse-so this is what I ended up with.

Thanks. Dean from liquidmask (ebay) has painted a couple of lids for me. He is extremely fast and does good work for a very reasonable price. His shipping is also lightning fast like Mike's.

Looks good, nice neat wiring. These are fun vehicles to run, as they do not mind some street imperfections. Much better than a 10th scale tc.

I have a spare roller with the rcm mount laying around, in case anyone wants one it is for sale...

Okay...I added a 5mmX122mm turnbuckle that connects the rear bulk to the center diff support in order to stiffen the chassis and reduce some of the excess flex.

Does this car come as a kit? Nice build!

How does it handle..at higher speeds specifically

You can buy either the Ofna GTP or the Dirt Oval kits (both come 80% assembled). Converting to brushless is super easy with Mike's motor mount (for the GTP) and battery tray. The tray is easy easy easy to mount...I just used the existing chassis holes and marked and drilled one size smaller on the battery tray. Everything mounts up really tight and sturdy.

I just looked them up...very inexpensive. What body are you using? Tire selection, good bad...

I used the ProtoForm PF8 body. I have driven the car with both slicks and Ofna treaded tires. I think the treaded tires actually performed a little bit better. The slicks seemed to break loose really easy. I also have a DM-1 Spec...same body and tires. The DM-1 Spec goes for about $330 but is worth the extra $$$ as it handles superbly. The conversion process is a tad more work intensive but not bad. It requires drilling a couple extra holes in the chassis to properly mount the batt tray.

I love on road cars especially 1/8. The only prob. I have is finding a place to run where the pavement is smooth. Are these less sensitive to bumps where as say a mrx-4 is sensitive. I f these handle well in less than ideal conditions, meaning a few bumps here or there, I would really love to have one.

Then you'd like the dirt oval...which is technically what I have (with a street body). Lots of tuning options for the suspension.
