wheels and tires

have erevo - mmm 8xl on 4S soon to be 6s.

So my stock talons are no match for my track or speed runs. the tires keep coming off the rims no matter how much glue and the talons cause way too much understeer and generally are just not good racing tires to say the least.

what have you guys found the best tradeoff in a tire/wheel combination
for both bashing and half serious racing on pretty rough tracks?

Badlands with half offset wheels.

Off topic, but, the 8XL might be toast if you run it on 6s. Especially if you go racing with it. It sounds like you know what you're doing. I just thought I'd give you a heads-up.

I demaged my 8xl with 5s and good airflow.

+1 to Badlands and offset wheels.

I ran a 6XL on 4s and it still works

8XL on 6S and MMM

thanks. i will run 6S on smaller pinions than on 4S and watch the temps. worst case we get the 2200 that I didnt have the option to get when i got the 8XL. People have told me motor temps go down on higher voltage as long as you gear down.

badland's with 1/2 offset beadlock's!

i was having tonne's of issue's with tire's coming off of the rim before and since i switched to beadlock's i have been golden! not to mention that the badland's will hook on pretty much EVERY surface :yipi:

for racing tire's; what's wrong with bowtie's or crimefighter's or similar?

That is compltely untrue. Motor temps will rise with the voltage. A lower kv motor with more voltage will be cooler than a low voltage setup.

Well, not completely. In this case it would overheat because it would be spinning too fast for too long. 6s puts you at ~40,000 nominal which is about 5,000 too high for the Feigaos and their infamous inefficiency. If the motor were still within the efficient band of operation you would indeed see lower temperatures by using a higher voltage and gearing for the same speed.

Yea i probably should have phrased that differently. But it really doesn't make much of a difference until you start moving down the kv scale.

I can agree with that.

do you have to use 1/2 offset or can you go with standard?

do you have to use 1/2" offsets or can you go with zero offset?

0 offsets will work fine and they do look better on the truck IMO. 1/2 offsets give you a wider stance and therefor better handling. I have both. Badlands are now on 0 offsets for bashing and a set of bowties on 1/2 offsets for racing.

I just came from running losi super bolt-on tires(40 series) They had tremendous grip and hadled good too. I just switch to badlands with 1/2in offset 3.8in rims(relux 1/2 ups) well they are much lighter adn offer the much need slip the diffs needed. They handle well and offer quick responce. So far I like them(one thing you need to do is tape the inside of the tire) I tried a set of badlands with standard mt rims and wasnt taped and I didnt like there performance. Now that they are on the bigger rim and taped they seem to do good.

So you like the Badlands or the Losi's better? also i have never taped tires - what specifically are you taping inside of the tire and what kind of tape?

I am thinking about getting badlands on maximizer beadlocks?
