EVX2 problem - maybe ?

With all the brushless antics going on with my trucks I figured it'd be a relaxing break to run my stock Emaxx in the snow with the dogs - they love it.

Anyhoo, I threw my 2S 5000 LiPos on and had some weird happenings.

The EVX2 wouldn't take a punch to WOT. It would just shudder slightly and cut out. I didn't have to reset the esc though, just throttle off and reapply more smoothly.
Same in fwd or rev.
Weird.
So I play around, test the connections etc, recalibrate the esc-tx but the same.
So I throw on a pair of 3000 nimh's and the EVX2 loves them. No problems at all !!
WTH?
I wasn't aware of an overcurrent lockout on the EVX2 but is the added punch of the LiPo's triggering something [?]

Your ESC is going into overvoltage protection.

Overvoltage? During a current surge the voltage is at it's lowest.

The EVX doesn't have an Overcurrent hook either apparently, so it's all a bit weird.

I ran the Maxx today on a pair of 3000 NiMh packs. The EVX behaved perfectly although the performance was dismal [compared to the pair of SMC 2S 5000's].
Maybe the FETs were folding over with the lipo surge current............

Mine did the same thing. It is an overvoltage protection of sorts I beleive. Nixx drop voltage so much under load and Lipo doesn't and thats what it's seeing. After a couple minuutes mine stops doing it. But be careful I fried my motors running Lipos!

Yea, I can see that. The current surges but the volts stay strong so the power goes through the roof.
I can live with fried motors but I'd rather not have to swap out the EVX hehehe

My evx is still going, just go easy on the throttle for the first couple minutes and it doesn't happen.
