Losi 8ight conversion kit
Hi!
Anyone tried the conversion kit Losi have made for their buggy and truggy? I think it looks pretty nice and pretty cheap too. Anyone tried it and could give a newbie some feedback about it? |
i have a losi eight-e buggy which is all factory bulit with these part and it is very nice. all the losi components will make for a nice conversion if you have a losi buggy or truggy. and yes the price is good

That's nice to hear, I'll go for that kit then. Thanks!

I don't like the motor mount. It looks nice and is a great idea for quickly changing the pinions and setting the mesh. One bad thing is it's so thick, it's really made for the Losi motor which a buddy and I found out are junk. If your motor has a really long shaft then it will work. The other thing is it really only lets you use a 45 tooth or smaller spur, unless you feel like figuring out a way to neatly shim it up. I have one sitting here that I just cant make work for me. The battery tray is nice though, provides a nice spot for the ESC to mount and routes the wiring under and over to the radio box.

Im using the 44t plastic kyosho spur with mine, and I have a MMM and a Tekno neu 1515/1y motor. The mesh is fine. I think the kit is great. I'd recommend it to anyone.

I think the Losi Brushless conversion is value for money at $79.
However the motor mount is a bit of a pain as it is too thick. Unless you have a long shaft this could be a problem. The 2 holes to mount the motor are also to large and you do need drop a small copper tube to manage with the usual 3mm screws. However once you find the right motor and pinion ( I used a Neu 1515 2200KV on 6S with a 18 tooth pinion on my Losi Truggy & 4s 2700KV with 16 tooth Pinion on the 8ight Buggy) you will have no further issues. The battery tray will accept very large Lipo packs. The whole installation looks neat and factory assembled. I also tried Mikes Motor mount which is very good if you dont want the issues with the Losi Motor mount. |
Oh I see. That's a shame about the motor mount. I think I'll go for the RCM mount then. I'm planning on using a Neu or a CC Monster combo and I don't want to realize that the shaft is too short for the motor mount:mdr:

Will the Losi motor mount work with a Feigao 8XL motor ?
I cant find anyone using such a combo. |
I have just finished converting a 8T using the Losi kit, I agree its a good kit and I hate the motor mount, I am using the RCM mount...and the battery tray does fit a Flightpower 6s 5000 pack I had laying around, I havnt run it yet but it does seem a little heavy....I ll see how it goes

Don't try plastic spurs unless you use the losi motor mount as well, if you use the RCM plastic spurs rub and are not suggested. (Kyosho & losi plastic spurs)

I did this on my conversion rcm motor mount. Losi battery tray. awsome setup. esc mount big battery tray, And the best motor mount out there a rcm one. winds up cheaper than the losi full conversion and you dont have to deal with there mount.

Another great option is the Tekno 8t kit if you have a 8ight-t 1.0, amain has them reduced to 69.99. It's like 119 for the 2.0 kit which you can get and then use the 1.0 parts EXCEPT you just need to get the 2.0 center shafts and you have a tekno 1.5 kit :P
