quick 9920 question

Hey, I think the esc I have is a 9920, but it isnt marked. The 9920 is the only speed control with (4) capicitors on the side where the power from the batteries come in, right?

EDIT BY RENE/SERUM
the new 9920 has got 2 instead of 4 caps, safe yourself some reading and jump to the 3rd page.. :p

The 9920 i had only had 2 capacitors on the power input end.

I have 4, mine is a 9920 as marked:

So why do you have 2? Oh well, in theory more capacitors is better.

E-maxx-kid 12.22.2005 08:46 AM

Mine deffinatly had 2, dunno why, as it was marked up as a 9920, maybe thats why it blew running a 7xl.

E-maxx-kid
the 9920s mike sells claim to have 4 capacitors
maybe they use to make them with only 2 capacitors it is hard to tell

I doubt you would get a 9920 with 2 capacitors confused with 4.

How many does a 7720 have?

E-maxx-kid 12.22.2005 09:04 AM

I only brought it a few weeks ago (2) so surely should of had 4 capacitors, unless it was marked incorrectly, and was a 7020 for example, then it would explain why it smoked using a 7xl.

Nick 12.22.2005 09:07 AM

Strange, yeh it should of had 4 capacitors.

Mike might be able to know more. Suprised BK would mark their own ESCs up wrong?

E-maxx-kid 12.22.2005 09:08 AM

Well what ever it was it cost $205, and was marked up as a 9920, and smoked with a 7xl motor.

boss 302 12.22.2005 09:12 AM

e-maxx-kid,
email mike something doesnt seem right maybe he has a few ideas about what is wrong with your 9920

Its been sent to Germany, but aint got a response from them as yet, but it appears it was a 7020 therefore could'nt handle the current draw, and smoked?

Gustav 12.22.2005 09:26 AM

Sounds like it.The airplane 9920s only have 2 capacitors too i think. But basically, any of the car controllers,99A or above have 4 capacitors.

Nick 12.22.2005 09:50 AM

If you look at my sticker (image in quote below) why is the 9920 ticked in the WC (I think it says WC or WIC) bit and not Car?

It is marked car, that other 'X' is for 9920.

Nick 12.22.2005 10:01 AM

Yes it is marked as Car but not Car-9920. It is a 9920 of WC or whatever? Look, you will see 2 boxes both labeld 9920.
