Slash guy looking for some direction
I got a Slash and want to go BL with it. I already have 2 2s 5000mah packs and would like to get a 3s pack too.
With that being said, what would be a good motor/ESC combo to run in it to achieve a good 45-50mph if desired and still be cool and efficient? I was looking into the MM and a 5700 motor but from the reading I have done I hear it sounds like there could be some heat issues with it possibly. Also what would be a good gearing to run on this that will work with 2s and 3s and still keep me within my parameters? Thanks guys! |
The MM will be a great esc for you! As for the motor choice try a Medusa 36-50-3300, it's available with a 1/8" shaft so you can keep your stock gearing setup. The Medusas are very good motors and will run cool. 3300kv should get you 40 on 2s and if you bump it up to 3s it would be a rocket!

as above

Thanks guys. I knew I could count on some good info here!!

How does this Medusa compare to a Castle or a Velineon motor??
|
The medusa will run way cooler than either and be able to pull higher gearing than either without heating up as much. The Castle 36 mm motors have small rotors as does the velineon. A MM/Medusa combo will cost a bit more but will outlast either by far!

76/25 will get you about 37-38 on 2s and about 56 on 3s. Thats very fast for a slash! I would try 83/25 esspecially if your gonna run 3s alot. BrianG's calculator is a valuable tool!

Also will the motor bolt right up with no mods? Thanks |
Mike sells them here! As long as you get the 3mm shaft version it will bolt right up. If Mike doesn't have them in stock send him an e-mail. As a last resort you can order right from Medusa but try supporting Mike first! He will give you a good price on it and even if it's a dollar or two more your helping support this forum!

http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...usa3650&cat=20 Appears that he has them in stock! 36-50-3300 pick the 3300kv 1/8" shaft in the drop down menu
