looking for opinions on LST shocks
 

Ok guys
I just purchased my first LST2. It has aftermarket Intergy shocks on it with the piggybacks. Are the stock LST2 shocks not worth using? I've always liked the way the stock lst shocks were super huge. I'm thinking of buying some stock lst shocks for this truck. This is a basher truck and will be taking some big air landings hopefully rubber side down. So let me know if the stock lst shocks will work and if so what should I do to them to make them great. I'm assuming I would at least need the blue body ones that are aluminum. I have also seen ads for "harden" shock bodies. Are those worth the money?

i have the integy piggies on my pede and freakin love them. IMO integys bigger stuff is better ( their rc18t shocks and cage broke within 10 runs)

The nice thing about the integy shocks are that the shafts are larger, 5mm vs 4mm iirc. I think the holes on the integy shocks are way too small tho and lead to o-ring blowouts even w/ very light oil (15wt) I would drill out a couple of holes. Otherwise I'm not sure they are worth swapping around unless you want to save a bit of weight or have std losi parts. The integy shocks are also threaded too.

I have 2 non threaded LSTs I bought a few years ago (use clips like traxxas) and 4 threaded LST2 shocks, Threaded shocks come with the LST2 pn# ( LOSB2812) but not the LST V1 pn# (LOSB2801) LINK

The hard anodized LINK bodies, with the LST2 aluminum tops and Ti shafts are what most of the dudes on the lst forum use as an upgrade.

They buy the Aftershocks plastic bodies, the LST2 aluminum caps and adjustment rings and the Ti shafts, for a lighter weight set up.

I guess the thing is I have a problem with Integy and their business pratices and would prefer to run there products on any of my vechiles. Looks like I maybe building a set of Losi shocks.

its ur choice, but again i beat my pede hard and the shocks as well as the bulkhead have held their own and then some...

The stock LST shocks work really well but you will snap shock shafts on a regular basis, tini and stock.

Best thing is to keep some spare shocks handy. Ebay chop shops seem to be the best place to get them.

Also dont run yellow springs if you are going to race. They suck. I don't know how people set them up to work but we swapped back to silvers and blacks on an lst2 yesterday with sway bars and it made a huge difference.

So the shafts are weak on the LST shocks? I What brand sway bars are you running? The Losi kit or something else? I'm thinking of piecing some shocks together off ebay.

It's not so much that the shock shafts are weak, it's more of a issue with the shock design. They are probably the strongest shafts on any shock and they don't bend on landings. What breaks the shafts is the spring retainer at the bottom of the shock. The retainer is so big and stiff that if it hits anything it has a lot of leverage over the shaft and it snaps the shaft. So the moral of the story is not to hit anything especially since that shock retainer sticks out in the gap between the wheel and the front bumper.

And my friend with the lst is just running the losi sway bars. I run the LST shocks on my savage.
