Castle Neu vs Medusa
 

since you can now get a CC Neu for the same price as a Medusa the only reason I see that you would pick the Medusa is the KV selection...what is everybodys opinion

Basically the same thoughts as you. As I am not all that fond of 4s, I would go with a 1600kv 80mm medusa on 6s... 2200kv on 6s is difficult to gear down in some applications.

80mm 1600kv medusa is what I've got here to go along with the MMM that I bought when they came out. I've also got a 2200kv MMM combo that I don't know what to put in because of the gearing options in my current trucks.

I'm hoping the 80mm 1600kv medusa runs really strong and cool in either my Raze Truggy or my Losi Muggy. But I may sell the Muggy as a RTR with the MMM 2200kv combo and one of Mikes mounts in it, and run the 1600kv combo in the truggy on 6S lipo and a lower mAh.

I haven't looked around but castle is setting the price of their motors at $199.99. I can get a 70-80mm Medusa for about $70 less. I'm happy with my Tekno Neu but if I had to replace it I would prolly go Medusa so I can stay close to my 2.5d

you can get a Castle Neu from for $140 about the same price as a 80 mm Medusa Mike sells both

The other nice thing about the medusa is the shape/size. It's a 36mm can so it fits in mounts designed for 36mm can and allows for more gearing options. If I had the choice though I'd probably go castle neu just because it is designed for car use.

CC2200 have sealed can, soft power wires and bigger bearings, I think it more preferable than Medusa.
Medusa opened can maybe more cooler with heatsink, smaller can accept wider gearing options and possible use different heatsinks.

I wonder what Mike will charge for the 1518 1800kv motors. I would definitely look into buying one.

I think Medusa has a 2yr warranty. I haven't heard the warranty on the Castle motors yet.

lil off subject but why do I hardley see ANY medusa's being used for boats?

something about the wattage?

If I had the choice I would go with the castle neu the larger diameter can is nice to have for cooling reasons. The medusa has more kv ratings but the new neu 1400 motors rival them with neu design and legendary preformance of the 1500 rotors to back it up.

I see the Medusas as being the new entry level motor with slightly higher price but MUCH better performance/temperature characteristics than the previous entry level XL motors. The bang-for-the-buck is certainly high here. Yeah, you could get a Feigao (or equiv) motor, but for the money/performance ratio, Medusa would be the better choice. So, iIf you are just playing around, the Medusa can't be beat, and it's nice to have a motor that will fit anywhere a typical 36mm motor would.

For track running, a Neu (or Neu-derivitive) would probably be preferable for cooling and to handle the harsher conditions. Having a larger diameter, Neus will have more torque. And the finned case will keep it cool.
