Mamba max Q & a Monster Max Q

Mamba Max
What's the maximum you can run on a Mamba max whilst using a UBEC ?
I've run 4S reliably but am thinking of pushing to 5S - Any comments?

Monster Max
How do I identify whether my Monster is a V1/2/3? I recently picked up a new ESC from the shop but there are no markings. It has bullet motor connectors, that's all I can say

Thanks Boys

4s with a UBEC. Some have run 5s, but it seems hit or miss.

If the MMM has bullets all the way around, it is either a V2 or a V2 retrofitted to be a V3. A "true" V3 has bullets on the motor wires only. Both of my V3's have bullets all the way around, and have no marking on the ESC, but the box had a paper in it telling me it was a V3. Whatever version it is, just load firmware v1.20 on it and you should be golden.

I've run 5s on one of my MM with no issues... I believe the board is blue on V3's

Thanks Guys !!

A true "from CC" V3 will also have the taller case to give clearance to the fan and lower board. That and the wires for power and bullets for the motor are the best external indication it is a V3. I would not buy anything else if I were you. Unless it was super cheap and you have time to send it back to CC.

Indeed the ESC is a V3. As Brian suggested, there was the piece of documentation slipped inside the manual stating so.
Who reads manuals eh? LOL

 That is what this forum is for.

For what it is worth I have a V1 with the taller case and upgraded firmware running fine.

Exactly ! :yipi: Well, Once you've read one castle instruction pamphlet you read them all.

I also have a V1 doing a fine job in an RCM'd Mugen on 5S. Fingers crossed it keeps the Castle flag flying.

ok so my friend who has a MMM...
it's aclaimed to be a V3 in the manual...yet the bullets are on the board.

does this mean it'sa retrofitted V2?

BrianG 02.26.2009 10:47 AM

Yes. Both of my V2's are this way.

Arct1k 02.26.2009 11:02 AM

No - the early v3s still had bullets - later v3 don't so i guess they are v3.1's

BrianG 02.26.2009 12:03 PM

I thought Patrick said the first V3's were retro-fitted V2s, followed by the "real" V3's?

Arct1k 02.26.2009 12:07 PM

I thought all V3's had the blue boards and new cases...

As MMM wires to motor are with connector on esc site, I can put white wire on what ever motor connetor.
(MM has always same wire white)
I have to ask MMM and brushed motor connecting help!
Does it matter witch wire I let into air?
