B/L 1/5 savage

what do u guys think of a brushless 1/5 savage with carbon tvps and a three speed and powered by a 9xl and 18 cells? do u think it would b underpowered? i want to jump to 1/5 scale and i have a savage roller and i found .125 12"x24 cabon sheets for $72 so it could b done pretty cheap.

The TVP's wouldn't have to be CF, hit ebay and check out Speedy Metal's 1/8" thick 6" x 48" sheet for $14, cheaper, and maybe even easier to cut........at least because you won't get cancer from the smoke/dust it'd put out.

here is a pic of a template i cut out it will extend the wheelbase to 475mm same as the FG trucks

Sylvester 01.01.2006 03:04 PM

Whoa! The FG's are really huge arent they?

captain harlock 01.01.2006 03:10 PM

One of my friends has an FG touring car and its about a meter long and 65 centemeter wide. Huge indeed.

820maxx 01.01.2006 03:14 PM

ya they r big and expensive the body cost twice as much as the carbon i ordered for this project

Sylvester 01.01.2006 03:44 PM

I bet they are durable for their size.

captain harlock 01.01.2006 03:47 PM

Its plain ugly for me to run a huge machine. Thats my own thinking and I dont mean anything bad.

Sylvester 01.01.2006 03:50 PM

Yeah, i woudlnt go over 1/8 scale for anything, anything bigger just doesnt seem like and r/c anymore!

captain harlock 01.01.2006 03:54 PM

Exactly. Moreover, maintenance will be a hassle.

Sylvester 01.01.2006 04:00 PM

But the one + on a nitro 1/5 is the motor is bigger and theres no need of tuning , just maitnance ... PITA!

captain harlock 01.01.2006 04:05 PM

Oh, and the word nitro itself seems like a - and not a +, if you can get it.:)

Sylvester 01.01.2006 04:34 PM

lol, thats true, but i know one plus which electric cant beat, put in some fuel and go go go! :p

820maxx 01.01.2006 04:35 PM

there should not b any more maint then my emaxx. and it wont b nitro its going to b brushless. it should weigh about as much as my emaxx im going to start with one 9xl and if its not enough ill run a mega 22/45/2 which has more than enough torque.
