E-Maxx Upgrade to BL
Hey guys,
I have read every thread in the pre sales forum and need some help before I drop a bunch of cash. I want to run 12 – 14 cells I usually do bashing/beating Would like to keep up with stock Nitro T-maxx I want fast, but I don’t need the fastest setup. A good combo of torque and speed would be nice. Could you recommend a Lehner setup and a Feigao setup and tell me how it would stack up against the HV Maxx? It sounds like an XL 2400 might work, but then I read about the 19 series… There are a lot of options… Current E-Maxx RPM A-Arms & Towers Aluminum Bulkheads Aluminum Skids MIP Wheels and Center CVDs Lunsford Ti Turnbuckles Proline Shocks Trinity/Sanyo 3600 6 cell I would like IB 4200 6 cell 3rd Stock Chassis – Looking to upgrade. Can the Gmaxx aluminum take a beating? http://www.rustyonline.net/html/rc_video.html |
the gorillamaxx chassis can take a good beating but if you plan on doing REALLY hard bashing i would go with the flm. also, i would go with something like a 8xl or maybe a 9xl wanderer motor with a 9920. for a heavy truck a lehne will tend to get a little hot. would will need a steel idler and a good slipper for brushless power.

Welcome Bigabike. The gorilla chassis is a great bahser chassis, i have the revo version and it can take a beating with the best of them. But if you want more ground clearance the FLM chassis is a good option as well. I'm not brushless yet but i am going with an XL as well. good luck with your truck and have fun.

Thanks Guys for the welcome, and the advice.
Is it me, or are there a lot of XLs in BL naming??? It seems that every brand has an XL model. Feigao Lehner Wanderer Hacker Any reason why? How does the Wanderer 8 or 9 xl compare to the HV Maxx? |
XL is as it means extra largebut the sizes are different form make to make
|
a 8xl or 9xl would blow the hv-maxx away without a doubt. i have heard of people saying that the over all power was almost doubled.

Would I need a heat sink for the motor? Would I need a fan for the controller? What is the diff. between the a and 9 performance wisw? Thanks! You guys have been a ton of help. |

Welcom bigabike. I run the 9xl and it is alot better than the hv maxx. I had two hvmaxxes on a gmaxx chassis. The 9xl has more power than the 2. The 9xl on 12 cells is faster than stock with stock gearing and get a longer run time as well. The real thing is you can put more cells on it. I have run up to 18 cells with no problems. 25-30 min runtime on gp3700 18cells. the lehner basic xl is a smaller motor than the hacker feigao and wander version.
How many cells are you planning on running and what up grades are on you truck driveline wise. |
Well, so far you have an ok basher, i like the song in the vid (by thornley -clever-) You should go with the 8xl on 12-14 cells as everyone says, and cvds are a must once you go BL. Looks like you had fun!

Thanks for the response! 12 to 14 cells for now. MIP Center CVD Tranny, Pinion and spur stock for now. I think I want 70, 14 Metal. I was going to go with RR before I read this site. How do you think this gearing would be? I have no idea if it would be any good. I got it off the novak site for the HV Maxx. |

I am confused about some terminology. Does: Spur Gear = Slipper Cluch (At least the cog portion)? Pinion = Gear next to slipper clutch? Pinion = Pinion in the differential Thanks! |

Pinion = Gear on the motor(s) Pinion = I think this is in the diff(?) |
yes the pinion in the diff is the input gear and the bigger gear is the ring gear.

Thanks guys!
I will post my shopping list soon and see what you all think. |
