Brushless RC10GT
Hello everyone. Looking around on the web I came across a brushless converted RC10gt. It had a motor mount they said was purchased from rc-monster. Contacted and got a quick automated reply to check the forums because of the experaince of the members. So that being the case I ask is there such a mount, and of the motors listed on rc-monsters web store what would be a good choise for my RC10gt. I only run on the blactop out front of my house. I already own a mamba max esc, 5700kv motor, and a traxxas velineon 3500kv motor. The speed and torque of the velineon is more my style. I run 2 and 3s packs. My RC10GT is already converted using a home made mount, it works but I really love my rc and would invest in the best due to all the good things I have read and seen on the youtube. Your knowledge is valuable to me and would be appreciated.
Thank You. |
I am using the Revo nitro conversion mount, made and sold on this site, on mine. here are some pics.
I made an adapter plate to mount the mount using three holes in the chassis from the motor mount. Do you have a link of the truck you are looking at? |
I ordered a mount from RC-Monster for my RC10GT as well. Just write that you would like a RC10GT bottom plate in the notes section when ordering the Revo motor mount. I personally like the layout of crazyjr's GT much better than mine, but here is a picture of my conversion:

Thanks Jnev, That was a one day throw together. So you asked for a GT bottom plate? Nice, I got mine to convert a revo and never followed through

Thank you for your replys. Looked at the mount and it is just the one. As far as motors are concerned I like the Medusa line but would there be a real benifit over the Venlineon i.e. runtime, smoothness(not cogging), responce (more high end feel) in a 10 scale car. Not looking for wheelies, or an uncontrollable missle hellbent on property damage. Again thank you

The velineon is a great setup, but if you set it up like mine, you'll have trouble finding a battery that fits. Most people stick the esc to the rear tower or on a shelf over the transmission, I put mine on the chassisand use it for holding the battery in place. I use a 5s 2500 25c flightpower and a 1200kv basic XL from lehner with a quark 80 amp car esc (though i could have gotten away with a 60 amp model easily) This is not a speed car, though its good for 40's, with current gearing, it could go faster. I built it as sort of an efficiency experiment, I can get 30 minutes + out of the 2500. The first thing you need to do is put a set of red springs on front and greens in the rear (if set up like mine) it'll get some stability back into it. as far as setup, Medusa is a great motor, but i don't want to recommend a kv till you say what battery you plan to run.

I really like both your setups. The batterys I run are the 2300 1100 mah - a123 ,3s2p and 3s3p packs that I made. I have packs of both mah cells in each of these configurations. I to am looking for 35-40mph, and 25 min run times but the mamba max esc limits me to 3s. So a high voltage setup is out but would switching to a higher end, more efficient motor get me closer to this goal without purchasing more expensive batterys. If so what gearing for this speed is needed, have a wide selection of spurs not so many pinions would need to do a little more shoping. One last thing I am still not clear if the Revo mount can be purchased as a set and at what cost.

With around 11 volts to play with (not sure what volts the A123's carry), I'd run a 2500kv max KV. Higher end motors will help in efficiency, a 50mm medusa should be plenty. If you live in europe, you might want to look at lehner, I have a basic XL and i love it. I got lucky and got a used one here in the states. Some mamba maxes can do 4s and even 5s (you would need a UBEC), since they changed the boards and fets, its kind of pot luck. I run a quark on a UBEC and it runs great

Cant tell all of you how happy I am right now!! Just ordered my Revo mount with Rc10gt bottom plate, and a Medusa 36-50-2200. My truck is going to be so awsome, to me anyway. I thank you for your responces and pictures. Also the information on kv setup actually made me reaserch and make a dission on my motor selection. Mike said it would take a few days extra, but let me say I feel it will be worth the wait. Will post some pictures once all has arrived and I bolt on all that fantastic equipment to my little peice of heaven. THANK YOU, MORE THAN HELPFULL!!!
