not too happy :(

well after my MMM failed ( V2) , i sent it in and just got off the phone with castle and they are going to send me a V3 , but they are out .... so its gona be 3weeks till they get some :( there goes the rest of my indoor season
, is this a common thing for castle to take so long ? i realy hope not , i realy like there stuff but im on the line about customer service

What's_nitro? 03.25.2009 01:05 PM

No, it's not common for them to be OOS. They had probably made a whole bunch of V3's and were focusing on other projects for a while and they just ran out to soon. So it will take a little bit of time for them to build up their stock. It sucks that it happened during your race season, but things only break when you need them most- right?

hootie7159 03.25.2009 01:51 PM

Damn....I must have gotten one of the last ones!...I sent mine in about 2 weeks ago and I just got my replacement on Monday! Sorry to hear about that....They're probably trying to catch up with producing MMM's for HPI/Traxxas/all the vendors that purchase from them/and everyone who orders off their site....

E-Revonut 03.25.2009 03:19 PM

I agree, the MMM has been a hot ticket item since before it was even available, now with Traxxas and HPI using them as well it's not hard to beleive their stock has been depleted!

Semi Pro 03.25.2009 09:23 PM

i know how you feel, i have never receved any warrenty stuff back from castle in less than 3 weeks, it sucks but atleast they have a good warrenty.

XSKAPE 03.26.2009 12:31 AM

Castle service has one of the best customer service out there. High demand items do run out of stock.

If you are that serious about racing - why not buy a spare MMM?

DwightSchrute 03.26.2009 01:36 AM

my last warranty experience wasn't too good.

lemme say this first though...Joe Ford rocks...he's a great guy who helped me out enormously with my issues, but my repair didn't go as smoothly as hoped, and that had nothing to do with him, he was helping me with proof of purchase issues.

i got one esc replaced as hoped, but the other one they sent back was "repaired"...it went about 8 inches and lost all power again. the original reason it was sent in, in the first place.

i just got the new warranty invoice a few days ago via email, and it looks like it was "repaired" again. i really hope this one yields better results. they also have another one of mine that was sent in 2 days earlier, and that one smoked, but they haven't sent me an acknowlegement email yet that they got that one.

I have 3 MMM back-ups, and 5 in other vechicles, but i've had to send a total of (4) V3's back for repair, total. so far...all were in different trucks running different setups.

What's so disturbing to me is i can run them with CRAZY gearing on 6S in my rustlers and slash, and they never flinch. All those escs are all preforming flawlessly and are the original escs i put in them.

however, if i run the mmm's in my e-maxx's with 62-68/18 or close to that, i get constant issues like power losses for no appparent reason after just a few runs or a week or 2.

it's depressing that it's taking an average of 4 weeks for me to get them back, and now hearing that they are out of stock of v3's again....yikes. I'm glad i have 8 available at home.

I'm a loyal Castle buyer....it's all i run, but i'm starting to lose faith.

fastbaja5b 03.26.2009 06:46 AM

I'm afraid to run 6s in mine, the transit time from Australia being as it is.... pity cos it sounds like fun!

brushlessboy16 03.26.2009 07:05 AM

6s wont hurt it anymore then 4s... because thats what its rated for.

padrino 03.26.2009 09:27 AM

I had a Mamba Max die in December about a minute into it's first use, in short I agree Joe is a great guy but they are having supply chain issues even with their established products.

It took me almost 6 weeks to get a new Mamba Max back so I think the demand, growth, etc. is hurting the product line as a whole and not just specific ESCs.

You have 8 MMM?! :surprised: You need to get into some RC anonymous program. I was feeling guilty about wanting a 2nd MMM as backup for my E-8ight. I'll definitely be getting a spare and maybe even on for my E-crt.5 as the MM in it is acting up.

As for your notice of 4wd being harder on an ESC. There is no doubt. With much greater traction and generally more weight, 4wd draws more amps and amps seem to be whats hardest on ESCs. Also keep an eye on things like extra drag in the driveline system.

BP-Revo 03.26.2009 01:06 PM

In my honest opinion, if you have the room for it, there is really no point to NOT having an MMM instead of an MM. Its like 25 bucks more or something in the end, really not a big price to pay to get double the capability.

Imagine, if you run an MMM in a CRT.5 for the most part it is IMPOSSIBLE to fry it...

hemiblas 03.26.2009 05:38 PM

Both my MMM V3 sit in emaxx 3905 geared 20/68 running a 7xl and 20/68 running a 2200 combo on 5S. Both seem to work great even though the temps on the 5S combo are much better for obvious reasons.

...sorry not convinced there, heard of quite a few Savage Fluxes smoking esc's on 6s, haven't heard of it on 4s yet.

BrianG 03.26.2009 07:26 PM

For a given setup, you'd have to gear down quite a bit on 6s to keep current down. Just increasing the voltage by 30% (4s to 6s) will increase the current by 30% as well.
