Question about c-50

I'm running a normal c-50 in my maxx, however i've just bought a special limited edition c-50, which look's awesome.

The only down side of the motor i'm buying, it's got a broken spool(pinion snapped off). Now my original plan was to use the spool of my current c-50. But since i've always been slightly consurnd about the weak 3,2 mm shaft, are there any other spool's that will fit the c-50 but with a 5mm shaft?

Also does anyone happen to know the kv rating of the c-50's?

Thank's.

The kv was around 3000. If you got the one for the maxx they have. May be able to put a feigao shaft or somethign in it.

Depends on the wind(Kv is determined by the windings, not the magnet). Pretty sure a Feigao or Hacker shaft would fit right in, but there are some issues to this theory. The best for that motor would be a Hacker rotor(make sure proper clearance from shaft to windings), with a 5mm shaft. I say use your current motor's shaft and keep the pinion closer to the motor can when you mount it to avoid the potential for a broken shaft(most times, the shaft is broken due to high stress when the pinion is mounted way out on the end of the shaft-leverage will win!).

In this case the previous owner had run his gmaxx with a tight slipper and hit a car tire at full throttle, while during the crash still giving throttle. Since the motor didn't had a chance to get the power away, the shaft broke.

If you(Mike or anyone else) want's I can take measurement of the motor/ spool when I get it?

Did the shaft break, or did the rotor dislocate from the shaft?

Sneeck 01.08.2006 01:09 PM

If you look closely it broke on the point where the shaft was getting thinner.

the flat area?

Yep.

I have two of the C50 maxx motors. Ran them as a dual set-up until the one motor broke the shaft. Than ran the other motor as a single. It lasted about three packs before that motors shaft broke.
The shaft on these motors must be WEAK as there were a good number of people who broke shafts on these motors. A 5mm shaft would be a wise choice.
Thank you,

Actually(and I have to knock on a piece of wood really hard this time) this motor seem's to be holding up well. From full speed to spinning the tire's in reverse on a normal road. I really thought i'd hear something snap, including my stock tranny, but it didn't. Guess I was lucky.

So a 5 mm shaft it is. Which will fit?(if any)

im assuming a feigao, nemesis, wanderer L would fit.

Why not contact hacker usa about it? Not always the fastest I know but just don't tell them it's for an R/C Car (otherwise they scream bloody murder). I think they make 5mm shafts for the c50 cans, just not the maxx editions.

That should confirm that:) Hopefully those can's are the same dimension now

Doesn't the C50 Maxx use a 12s rotor? I've heard that it's just a 12s rotor in a larger can... Are my sources correct?

Sneeck 01.11.2006 01:49 AM

Thank's re-mix, when I get home from work this afternoon i'll measure up my c-50. Hope it will fit.

Heard/read that too Metalman.
