RockShow Berg Build - New Parts Arriving Daily

I decided to order up some new parts for this week's build.

Called up T1E for a chassis and a couple sets of body panels. Gave CKRC & TCS some business too.

Everything has been ordered. I'm just waiting for the last bit of parts to trickle in and adjust for any changes in set-up.

New Parts listed below:

T1E Rockshow Chassis
Berg Axles
Integy 45t motors
TP 3S Lipo's
VP Knuckles
JP Lockouts
PL Chisels for my DNA wheels

Still undecided on what new wheels to get/mount my HB Rovers on. I'm leaning towards something Mayhem. I even started considering some Double Phatty's late last night.

I want to be able to get my wheels at or close to 14 ounces each in front. And then weight the rears wheels around 6-8 ounces each as my baseline setup.

I guess my last BIG jump could be to some Vanquish DH Pro Revolvers. They would be the most, ummmm.......rather, they would be the least affordable item in the whole build. Are they that good ??? Will they glue my rig to the rocks ???

Gonna have quite a bit of leftover crawler parts too.

Sounds sick!

My vote for Mayhems - Love the look...

The DH's are worth every dollar, all 254.00 of them.

Those rims look really really nice. But man are they pricy . Doug i ordered Mayhem 7's with a five point star ring with 16 screws .

That is a nice looking part list. We need pics asap!

I'm using the RC4WD (BL02) wheels with Proline G8 Chisel tires. With this relatively stock setup I crawled over a 13" diameter log. I have noticed that small things (sticks, pointed rocks, etc) tend to get stuck between the motor/axle when I try and get over them. I'm making some SS skid plates to remedy the problem. What kind of terrain to you plan to run on? Hopefully you wont have the same trouble.

Dammit, that's about $4 more than I had budgeted for the VP's

Great looking wheels by the way.

Thanks, I'm hoping they will work well together.

Pic's ? .......... maybe this time next week. I need a few parts off the crawler I am presently running. And I have a comp this weekend.

Which leads to that last question. Rocks mostly, at competition's.

The rockshow doesn't build up to proper comp specs without some spacers on the side, just in case you are wanting to meet normal usrcc specs. You need something to push out 3" wide, whether it be the shock mount spacers or something.

Looks to be a fancy build for sure! I love vanquish wheels.

RCShocker 03.31.2009 01:52 PM

Mine will come with the side bumpers to meet spec. Body panels MUST be used as well. As far as I know, they all(RS chassis) come with side bumpers. They can be seen in the pic below.

You guys are making me give hard consideration (again) to a set of VP wheels. :whip:

Yes, that is correct.

I am fortunate enough to be able to crawl with "T1E/Uroplatus" Silas AND "Rockshow" Mike on a regular basis here in NC. The things I've seen done with this chassis on the rocks pretty much makes it impossible to not give it a shot & a "shoutout".

rchippie 03.31.2009 05:27 PM

It sure is a small looking chassis . Is mounting your electronics going to be tough?.

For me ?

Yeah............probably

But everything does/can be mounted on the chassis. It almost has to be. That is unless you are willing to take a chance with an esc or lipo taking a hit on a rollerover or big drop.

They are well-designed and I have seen them take on some big hits and come back for more. That's with everything pretty much mounted inboard though.

Seriously Mark, I am addicted to crawlers. Even more so than my/our  very first builds. Not that the E-Maxx is going anywhere anytime soon.

I can remember not too long ago when I thought "A Crawler ??? Uh,......Whatever". Boy was I missing out. I would NEVER spend $100-$250 on a set of E-Maxx or Revo wheels. But it almost seems the "norm" when building a competition crawler. :gasp:

I've cut loose a handful of trucks recently so I could concentrate on comp crawling and builds more. I went from 6 trucks to 3 trucks real quick.

I also enjoy going to some really cool scenic places and spending the afternoon on the rocks with the guys I talk to all week on the local crawler forum.

mkrusedc 03.31.2009 07:05 PM

Doug, You hit the nail on the head. I thought I would never do one but I keep reading and watching and looks like that will be my next truck. I have to finish the UE suspension on My Maxx and then I will be picking your brains. Maybe by the fall...that would be some great climbing time. Keep posting. Thanks.
