Max amperage for motor ? batery amp size
Need some more help on Motor and battery
Is a 95amp max Feigao 2383 motor ok to use with a 160 amp battery ? Looking at buying Two 5s 1s1p 3200XP 25c and putting in Parallel = 5S 6400 128 amps. Battery here http://www.neumotors.com/store/page12/page12.html Or should I get a castle 2200 before I blow the Feigao 7XL ? any idea what the CC 2200 motor amp is ? Newb: Trying to learn all this new stuff thanks |
The motor will only draw as much as it needs, gearing and vehicle weight will determine the load.
You can run as big of a battery as you like, only downside will be the weight. Your 7xl is a hot motor, it will pull over 95 amps, the cc2200 motor is a much better choice. The 7xl is very gearing sensitive, and 5s is too much voltage for the motor, it will most likely suffer from a magnet failure. 7xl on 4s is about as much as I suggest. |
Ok Thank you
But I read that the Feigao 7xl 2383 the max amperage was 95 and could do 5S so , you have seen/read this somewhere ? |

Where did you read that, on Fine Designs website? |
Rated values and real world values/results are rarely the same- the feigao-esque motor may only be rated for a certain ampage or wattage, but half of that is wasted as heat most of the time! Trust in what the old timers say, we've been there and done that many a time, so we know what the reality is vs the specs on paper; Linc himself has owned every BL motor ever made*
*almost at any rate. |
Thank you very much for your guidence.
I was hoping to get by with the Fego until I had proper cash for the CC2200 I read about it here http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6814871/printable.htm |
Peak ratings will be alot higher too on less efficient motors- they heat up quicker the harder you push them, compared to better quality motors (9XL vs Medusa 80mm 2000kv- personal experience).
Feigaos do cost ~$60-80, and the Medusa ~$140-150, so I can see the issue there, but its worth waiting a little longer to get a motor that will last years, rather than buying a cheap one that will last a few runs if you dont watch it like a hawk. If you already have the 7XL, its best to run it with 4s lipo for certain- if you are dead-set on 5s lipo, save up and get the medusa or CCneu 2200kv (or the 1800kv motor thats coming soon- longer and more power, and kv is better suited to 5s lipo). |

yea I bought the Fago a few months back for 50. What's the deal on the Black CC 2200's versus the Green CC 2200's ? .?they are speacial for the e-revo setups or something ? |
blacks are for savages and green is for revos, saame internally
|
Almost:
- the black finned ones come with the BL Erevo - the black 'pinned' ones come with the FLUX - the green finned ones come with the MMM esc & motor combo sold seperate to any models. They are indeed all identical on the inside. |
They should make one red with a NOS sticker on it; would automatically gain 10HP and 20-ft-lbs of torque.

I had to learn the hard way about dull stickers on my 89 accord. They just killed the performance. I had trouble beating minivans until I took them off. |
Ah yes, I had forgotten about the sticker finish. They usually all come with a shiny finish these days. The advances on sticker finishes is quite mind-boggling.
|
Aren't red motors faster due to the dopler effect too?
|
Could be. Studies are inconclusive on that point...
